Morning Free Association 3/11/16

Di Giuseppe scores in OT to win it for the Hurricanes.

Good morning, everyone! The view from the top looks nice! Alas, we lost in OT, but the point puts us at the top of the standings. Tampa Bay will likely catch us with their games in hand, but it’s nice to have a quick peek from the top!

Detroit beat Winnipeg 3-2, giving them a little bit of room on the Flyers. The Panthers quota’ed the Senators 6-2, with Jagr scoring two goals.

PK Subban suffered an accidental neck injury and was taken off the ice on a stretcher last night. Best of luck to him, and here’s hoping for a healthy return.

Tonight, Tampa Bay hosts Philly in the only game that matters to us, and tomorrow we host the Islanders. What’s on tap?

So today and tomorrow are the last 2 home games of the Moosehead’s season, and tomorrow is a Manatee, so I’ll be catching my last QMJHL game of the season tonight as the Herd gets run the fuck over by the Moncton Wildcats

Ruh roh. wink

Randell with Marchand and Stempniak in practice. That'll teach Bergeron.

So I keep hearing about this bad line change that Patrick Cleary did but I didn’t see it. What exactly happened?

Hanifin took the puck back inot his own zone, and then dropped it back to Ward. Bergy took this ‘opportunity’ for a line change, at which point Ward dropped it back to Hanifin, who spooted Bergy’s mistake, and fired the puck to a streaking Jeff Skinner, who fired it on Tuukka (saved, but now out of position as he coughed up the rebound), and Di Guiseppe came in to chuck in the rebound. Bergy DID make it to the Dzone in time to try to cover for Tuukka on the rebound shot, but it was too late.

Fluto describes it here: http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2016/03/10/noah-hanifin-heads-play-creates-winning-goal/eCBmkYC0Fn4KQu1dfTuHRM/story.html

Aw, well, he made a mistake and now won’t again for the next 5 years or so. smile

Between that and the multiple stick infractions in the first period, this was not a great game for Bergy

That’s why I said Patrick Cleary. grin Well I hope Bergy managed to untie himself and get out of the broom closet. Shame he couldn’t do that while the game was playing last night.

I had a story I've worked months on, and which was accepted, pulled by SI this morning as a result of my comments on their Kane story.

This is not a good look you’ve got there, Sports Illustrated

That article was an atrocity, but this is truly disturbing
