Morning Free Association 4/6/16

So, what is there to say? The Bruins got a point when they needed two to overtake the Red Wings, who are still third in the Atlantic with the ROW tiebreaker. Not only that, Detroit also has a game in hand on the Bruins before they play Philadelphia tonight. (Remember, root for Team Meteor.) So, these are Schrödinger’s Bruins; they are simultaneously dead and alive until we can observe the results of Thursday’s game. FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC.

What does this mean? Well, Thursdays game against the Wings still may be the MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE YEAR for the Bruins. I am calling for

ALL HANDS ON DECK!

As our dear SatanSibling, Sister, would say:

YOU SHOW UP TO THE GAME THREAD ON THURSDAY! YOU MAKE THE BRUINS WIN!

As I would say, you better bring your fucking A-Game.

Bring Your A-Game

Patrice agrees.

Do not be the Dude.

Surprising bit from Krug here from the Herald:

Some stuff from the Herald RE: Torey Krug heading into the offseason. Willing to bet on himself again. #Bruins pic.twitter.com/IkVN5Eq46z

Huh. That’s pretty cool of him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he got tired of doing that year after year.

DrHandgrenaid
Editor

Yeah, I’d assumed he was totally done with short deals after 2 consecutive 1-year deals

Satan81
Admin

Definitely an interesting and different attitude with respect to contracts.

DrHandgrenaid
Editor

He might also be looking at his SH%, and thinking he’d get short changed due to his unfortunate lack of goal scoring, and figures he can rebound next season and cash in (hes a clever dude, I wouldn’t be surprised if hes thinking this deep about it)

The BOB

This makes a lot of sense. Bound to rebound in goals next season and that would definitely up his value.

Is Acciari the 3rd line center going forward? If so, maybe you move Spooner. Not Krug. He’s developing into a better and better player and his salary? Not more than $3.75 , $4 outside. Maybe you go fucking blockbuster, trade Krejci, sign Spooner and wait another year. Just stirring the pot.

DrHandgrenaid
Editor

Pretty certain Acciari’s HARD ceiling is 4C. IF the team were trading Spooner, one assumes 3C would be earmarked for Czarnik (most likely) or Griff/Koko (not all that likely)

phonymahoney

side note: one thing I actually DID notice Saturday is that Czarnik looked really good. That kid is SKILLED.

I LOVE Acciari as a defensive forward and 4C, but I don’t know if his lack of offense can work on a third line?

The BOB

My understanding is that Acciari has zero offensive potential. If that is indeed the case, can’t have him as anything but 4th line.

Twitter is just ugly today. Not ugly in its usual sense, as far as I can see, but ugly in that I don’t think there’s too many people left expecting good things ( as in a playoff spot) for the rest of the season.

Morning all!

Aw, I love that Torey Krug’s birthday is listed as an upcoming event. We should all chip in and get him something, guys! grin

Can we afford to buy him a defense partner? We could start a GoFundMe.

Miss Muse

Literally buying him a goal might be more cost-effective!

Hi everyone….long time since i have typed at a lot of you. Hope all is well with everyone outside of watching the Bruins and their tire fire of a stretch run to the playoffs. They do realize that sequels never turn out well right??

Anthony, ALWAYS making sure to point out that defensive hockey can be fun, SPECIFICALLY because there’s a KPD axe to grind for some reason, hahahah

Yes I could handle that. It would also mean the D has started to come around. But it seems like feast or famine with this team….its either forget about scoring just play sound defensively or lets go for the goals and forget about Tuukka.

carvinbass18
Editor

My big summer prediction is both first round picks and Spooner and Krug (instead of paying a combined $9M) will be used for 2 traditional D.

— Bruins Stats (@bruins_stats) April 6, 2016

That’s a bold prediction cotton, lets see how it plays out

DrHandgrenaid

Also, apparently this chucklefuck thinks we’re paying Krug $8 million next season based on this number

The Once and Future Bagel Bruin

I like Bruins_Stat’s stats, but the opinions expressed are off.

DrHandgrenaid

Normally I do, but that tweet is ridiculous

phonymahoney

Yes.

phonymahoney

Isn’t Spooner up this year? Maybe he means $5m and $3m or $4m and $4m? Either way, that’s nuts.

Also, if they trade those firsts… yuck

DrHandgrenaid
Editor

One more year for Spooner at $950,000

phonymahoney
Editor

Ah, that’s a plus

phonymahoney

And yes, it makes that opinion seem crazier

Satan81

Why on earth would the Bruins trade their cap-friendliest contract?

UnstableElement

UnstableElement

I’ve been scratching my head over that. Unless he’s figuring just south of $1mil/ea for the two draft picks then your looking at, what, around $6mil or so for Krug in his assumption?

carvinbass18
Editor

i’m guessing it also takes into account into Spooners extension at the end of next year

Yuck.

Tuesday story time!

My girlfriend and I were both having bad days, so we decided to go out to eat to a nice restaurant. I had a gift card to the place so we decided to really enjoy ourselves. At the end of the night, I gave them my gift cards and debit cards. They have a new point of sales system which was not set up to receive gift cards. No biggie, I thought, they can just take my gift card, swipe it later, and I would pay the remaining balance on my debit card. However, they said they couldn’t do that. So I had to pay the tab in full.

Ouch. It was nothing to break the bank, but I think I might stay in for the next two weeks.

phonymahoney

Ugh. I hate crap like that!

Long-Winded Striped Mofo

UnstableElement

That sucks. I get where they are coming from, but they should have informed people that the gift cards were down when you sat down. I understand that most people won’t have one, but better to cover bases than screw people over.

carvinbass18
Editor

That’s flat out bull shit. Do you at least still have the gift cards to use later?

The Once and Future Bagel Bruin

I still have the gift card, but I will call ahead next time.

Satan 81's Sister

That type of situation, you suck it up and deal with the pain in the ass of entering it all in when it’s set up. That’s just good customer service.

carvinbass18
Editor

Oh yeah. No I was making sure that the gift card would at least still be viable, because if not then the person who bought the gift card was totally fucked out of X dollars

Satan 81's Sister
Editor

Oh that’s bullshit. They should have honored the gift card regardless. It’s still currency.

If I get the job in Raleigh, I have a place to live. The potential job over there told me they will call early next week to schedule an in person interview. I’m getting a little tired of their shit. Make up your minds. The whole process started in February.

I narrowed my Winston-Salem housing options to three locations.

Now I need to start applying to new jobs in town. Nothing really wrong with my current job, I just want more money and a new environment.

phonymahoney

If I get the job in Raleigh, I have a place to live.

Not being homeless is a definite plus.

Hopefully they get their shit together and give you some kind of closure on this whole thing.

But wait. Maybe one of those back into the playoffs on the last day, squeak through a rough first round, stun everyone in the second round, win an ECF and who knows? kinda things could happen. The Meteors went pretty far with a season like that not long ago, les bleu, blanc et merd did it the same year.
