Hey, everyone! Canada dropped quota on Sverige yesterday, 6-0 in the World Hockey Championship quarterfinals. Our own Nose Face Killah, Rad Brad Marchand got a goal and a roughing penalty. Oh, you!
Frank Vatrano and Team USA edged out Pasta and Česko 2-1 in a shootout. Auston Matthews scored the lone regulation goal for Team USA (Frankie with an assist) and scored the lone goal in the shootout. Cam Talbot stopped all three Czech chances in the shoot out to earn the win. It’ll be Frankie vs. Rad Brad in the semifinals on Saturday at 1:15PM ET.
In other WHC action, Suomi smoked Danmark 5-1 and Rossija overcame a slow start to beat Sturmface’s Deutschland team 4-1. Suomi and Rossija face each other at 9:15AM ET on Saturday.
Oh and the Sharks beat the Blues 3-0 last night. We’ll have a recap of that coming up later today.
What’s on tap?
Must have been the phase of the moon, but all kinds of douchebaggery in last night’s game. I love that shit. Had plenty of fun fucking with people. This conversation happened:
Me “7 blue, minor slash”
7 blue “Aw, come on!”
Me “No, I don’t want to go anywhere with you.”
(#I’manasshole?)
#You’reAHero (as long as it’s not my team you’re messing with, of course)
Morning All! I popped in a bit earlier, but no time to post….Working!!! (I had trouble even typing that!).
Camping at the Deerfield River again this weekend!! Yay! Two days of paddling, campfires, and goodies!
Disc golf later with Jo and my youngest, then home to load the car. I very excite!!!!!!!
Working?!? I don’t know who you are anymore!
Blah I was up captioning till 3. Great movie but holy shit my alarm is scheduled to go off at 530 and I have no fucking clue how I managed to make it to work on time today.
ALL THE COFFEE is on tap today.
Good morning everyone.
5 hours until my vacation starts. I’ve just gotta keep on reminding that it’ll be over for a week at 3:30. That being said I’m very rage-y today thanks to some absolute bull shit regarding the printer I’m on and some unnecessary sarcasm from my old supervisor. I responded to his jack-ass filled sarcasm e-mail with an image of the letter “K” that was 1000×1000 pixels in size. He hasn’t talked to me yet this morning. On the plus side of life though, Em & I are going hiking in the Franconia Notch on Wednesday which should be a ton of fun. On tap today is coffee, water and the mental fortitude to not snap and punch people in the face.
Good Morning
Sitting on the production floor today monitoring some test builds.
How exciting.
Lots of work to do this weekend. I’m going to be so happy once the dust finally settles and I can just relax.
Woo hanging out in production
Heh. I mean. It’s a nice change of scenery, it’s just a lot harder to work out here.
That’s such a contrast from here. To do anything in the engineering sections is just about impossible because of how little the engineering techs care about their work environment.
Wait a minute… Sturmface is coach of the German team? The same one that beat the US for the first time in forever?
The same!

I had no idea he was coaching. When I saw the reference I thought he was still playing so I had to go look. Good for Marco, have to imagine this is already one of their more successful WCs.
They definitely played well for him. They gave better teams fits at times with their forechecking.
Love the German. Favorite WC moment from that year was Savard yelling at him in the team photo going “GERMAN, GERMAN, GERMAN, DUDE, WE’RE AT FENWAY!!!” It was incredible, they were like little kids
I’m ready to punch this day in the face.
This day can truly suck on a ginormous wiener and choke on it and die
Try some livestock. I heard it’s therapeutic.
It’s Tim Approved! Can’t wait till I have to the office to myself this afternoon. Plan on doing fuck-all.
I’m taking a personal day, I mean I’m sick. I have lots of PTO and lots of things on my mind. This is the recipe for a sudden day off.
You do what you gotta do.
I’m with ya. I’m mentally checking out here and that’s a really bad sign. Seems like it’s time to work on moving back home.
Oh wow, really? How long have you been away for?
In total, I’ve been away from Boston for six years. I’ve been in Germany for a little over a year and a half.
It’s only been that long in Germany? It feels like it’s been longer.
October of 2014. Before that, I was in NYC for a year and a half. San Francisco for almost a year prior to that. Budapest for a year and a half to start it all off.
What do you do for work that you only spend a year at each job?
hahahahaha…IT. Let’s see:
I worked for Sun Microsystems in Burlingtn, MA for two and a half years until they got bought out by Oracle and I was caught in the layoffs. They layoffs were right in the middle of the recession so the job market sucked, so I holed up in Budapest for a year and a half until the job market improved (I saved a good amount of money and got a pretty good severance package). I finally landed a job with a startup in SF. They had me out there for a year, then transferred me to NYC. The company’s IPO was a disaster and I eventually got caught in the layoffs several months later. I almost landed a job at Harvard, but that fell through so I took the job in Germany instead.
*whew*
That would explain it. Sounds like loads of fun! Stupid Sun… I had a co-op interview on that campus… they rejected me for not knowing info from one of the classes listed on my resume. (Had been 2 years). Then they hired some undergrad who hadn’t yet taken it. Worked out well since they canned the co-ops midway through.
Oddly enough, I now work right across the street from their old complex.
Letting go of co-ops is not a cool move.
Are you at Citrix? I remember them being sorta around the corner. Mitre is another one.
Oh, and layoffs fucking suck.
I really thought about taking a sick day today to make a 3-day weekend so I could get a lot done. Good on you.
This was an eventful week for me. I decided to go back to school starting in August to get a degree in broadcasting and production technology. Going back has been on my mind for a year, but my love for podcasting and recent personal developments gave me the push to finally do it. Knowing I won’t be in the benefits or HR fields forever is so freeing.
But on a much more tragic note, my dog (well, my dog until I left home because no one will let a 20 something year old AND a 125 pound German Shepherd rent their downtown apartments) was put down. Over the course of several months, he became more and more violent. It had to be done, but we had him sense he was a 7 weeks old.
This weekend I’m medicating and rewarding myself with hockey, bass, live music and Thai food. I decided I wanted to start the weekend a day early.
Congrats on going back to school!
Sorry to hear about your little guy. I think your weekend plans all great ideas.
I’m really sorry to hear that. That’s never easy. I still miss my dog and it’s been 2.5 years.
(I also now want Thai food)
I love Thai food.
Yeah, that definitely calls for taking a day off. Sorry to hear it, man.
Sorry you lost an old friend. Sounds like you have excellent therapy lined up. Peace.
(Kidding – I think this is earlier than one I posted this week!)
Good morning peeps, what’s happening?
BULLET POINTS:
I should go skating soon. I’m not that great but it is very fun just to zip around on the ice
Now that I know you loathe it I’m going to have to make sure to give unsolicited advice every chance I get!
Just keep skating. That muscle memory is there somewhere. Can muscles get senile?
A: apparently they can! Hahah
