ICYMI:

Bruce Cassidy, Jay Pandolfo to join #NHLBruins coaching staff; Paul Whissel named Dir. Sports Performance & Rehab: https://t.co/UIleHFddzs

Well folks, we’re officially Oflodnap’d.

Gotta figure Whitesides got canned on account of Krejci being told NOT to get surgery last summer

According to the Bruins’ Hockey Ops page, Whitesides is still the strength & conditioning coach. Whissel is the director of sports performance & rehab which, I guess, would make him Whitesides’ boss.

So this means that in addition to Doug Houda, Doug Jarvis & John Whitesides are not coming back

Joe Sacco & ‘Goalie-Bob’ Essensa are back.

Well, I guess Cassidy has made a case for himself down in PVD and deserves a shot at something more. Plus, if things go south quickly, they have a possible replacement for Claude right there. (Before you boo me, that’s not what I want to happen.)

The Once and Future Bagel Bruin

Well, then you let the contracts expire on all the assistance, you promote from within. Claude has a great cast around him now.

Ehhh I just don’t like Sacco…. maybe it’s cause he was HC of the awful Av’s team a few years ago?

Hes coached both a terrible and a good PP with us, so I dunno.

Good morning folks!

It’s been a good vacation so far. Had a fire on Saturday and a few friends over. Sunday Em & I spent some time at the park playing softball with our friends Brandon & Cody and a couple of little ones. It was supposed to rain all day Sunday so my actual softball coach called off practice, so naturally it was perfect weather all day. Yesterday should have been a great day to mow the lawn, start burning brush in the pit and all that stuff, but instead we stayed inside all day watching netflix. It was kinda wonderful. On tap today is good coffee and some more drywalling.

You drywalling that back porch? Glad to hear you’re getting a break. I’m going to need one once I’m settled in.

I got drunk last night and made cheese covered fries. My body disagrees with my decisions. And yes, I drank boxed wine.

However, the combo did go fairly well the hockey game.

Also, I used to wear these when I played hockey

My new team had a fit, so I bought these.

Your new team is no fun.

When you come up for the party. You and I are taking a trip to New Hampton (or Plymouth if it’s open) to show you the amazing selection of boxed wine in the liquor store there. It’s seriously a giant wall of boxed wine.

Hey folks. back at the office today after 4 days away (field on Friday, and then long weekend). Bit of a drag, but our summer students start today, so field season should be fully streets ahead by some time next week.

carvinbass18
Editor

Good old office work. What are you looking for when you go back out in the field?

DrHandgrenaid
Editor

Tin, mainly, but I’m seeing some project creep and its going to be more a big mish-mash of rare metals- tin, indium, lithium, molybdenum, tungsten, niobium, plus more pedestrian stuff like zinc copper and lead.

Basically the entire SW portion of the province is one big single system, so I’m trying to figure why we see some of these minerals some places and not others. first year of what is supposed to be a 3 year program, but I suspect could easily become a full career undertaking.

3 years, 29 years, its all the same really. Government!

carvinbass18

Are you looking for possibilities of mining or just making sure it’s all safe?

DrHandgrenaid

Mining. My responsibility is mineral development, not geohazards.

Let me know if you find any Neodymium. I could use some more.

Or Admantium or Vibranium.

Please find some. China owns the market; therefore making light weight bass gear too expensive.

DrHandgrenaid
Editor

Its problematic- the REE’s are… well, rare (heh), and sizeable deposits are tricky. Among the many reasons China controls the market is that their mines in Northern China are pretty much unrivaled. Any time meaningful competition arises, China can easily manipulate the prices and drive them down, making the great expense of extracting them anywhere else prohibitive. Mountain Pass in California has gone into production several times and simply can’t compete. Several world-class REE deposits in Canada are shelved for the same reason. China’s apparent unwillingness (and frankly, can you blame them?) to participate in fair trade practices with respect to the REEs (among other things) makes this a real dilly of a pickle

Fair trade is unfair!

The Once and Future Bagel Bruin

There was a point, about 5 years ago, which China JACKED up their prices. Suddenly the neo speaker phase was over. Neo speakers were about half the weight of their ceramic counterparts and nearly had the same definition.

Neo is slowly coming around again, but it’s just more expensive. It’s considered an expensive luxury.

DrHandgrenaid
Editor

Yes, and that sparked MASSIVE amounts of illegal mining in China, as well as tons of exploration elsewhere. But then China dropped the prices, largely in an effort to kill off their own illegal mining, and thats resulted in a lot of other projects worldwide getting mothballed.

Additional Side Story: There’s the (posssibly feral) cat that wanders about our neighborhood. Everyone seems pretty chill with it, though, including the dogs. I’m beginning to think it’s actually based somewhere on our property. It literally doesn’t give a damn, if I’m outside and it’s there, it looks at me, and goes back to doing whatever it does. It kind of was creeping me out at first.

However, I’ve found at least one dead mouse and have seen it now twice with a mouse in it’s mouth. Listen cat, if you agree to keep killing the mice in the area, you can chill as long as you damn well please.

Miss Muse

If it lets you you should try to take it to the vet to get it fixed (if not already), and possibly see if it’s microchipped.

1) I highly doubt this thing will let me.
2) If anyone owned him/her, I think it’s been a while.
3) I’m quite allergic to cats. Holding one is not high on my list.

Good Morning!

It started pouring right as I was about to walk outside to my car this morning. One of those 2-seconds-and-you’re-drenched type downpours. So it’s going to be one of those days, eh?

I would like this Sharks-Preds series to go to 7. I had it on last night and it sounds like it’s getting feisty. I would like the Pens to fail, though.

I sent over my resume to my contact yesterday, so hopefully good things will come from that. I ALSO got a call from a place I applied to about a month ago, but we’re apparently locked into a game of phone tag at the moment. I left him a message yesterday about when I might be able to take a call, so I’m hoping that he calls me back today at the times I gave him. It’s always hard when places just assume you can take a call and have a long conversation. I can’t exactly answer and chat about a new opportunity whilst sitting at my desk at my current job. That said, I’m glad that I’m finally getting some interest again. I haven’t heard back from any company (besides automated responses) since December.

I’m rooting for the Blues, though I think the Sharks are the strongest of the 4 teams right now. I generally like how the Blues play, though they really could use someone who’s a genuine goal scorer – maybe a Loui Eriksson *ahem*.

I give zero craps for whether or not Thornton gets his name on the cup. Also don’t care that much about Steve Ott – his time is fading, and I barely notice him any more.
Pavelski & Burns have been a lot of fun to watch. Pavelski is my favorite candidate for Conn-Smythe.

I like busting narratives. The Sharks have been choking for years. I’m pretty sure a win would shut that one up.

Also, the Blues do nothing for me. They’re one of those teams that I often forget exists. And as for the Pens and Lightning…eh.

carvinbass18
Editor

I’m really hoping the Blues pull this out. Despite being all “lets employ Steve Ott” I can’t help but like the way they play the game.

Really hope that the job situation gets better for you.

Satan81

I’m rooting for the Sharks. I lived out there for a year and the fanbase is passionate, friendly, and fun. I’d also like to see Joe get a Cup. I’m totally ok with losing the Thornton trade all over again, and I’m looking forward to watching the Boston sports media have a meltdown over it.

1) I don’t know why I said Preds.
2) I’m kind of pulling for the Sharks. Well. pulling for game 7, then the Sharks. No particular reason why.
