Good Morning Everyone!
Yesterday was a very eventful day in the NHL. Players’ rights and picks were traded all over the place. Let’s review some of them:
- The Nashville Predators traded away the rights to local kid, Harvard graduate, and 2016 Hobey Baker Award recipient Jimmy Vesey for a 2016 third-round pick.
Joe McDonald of ESPN spoke with Vesey’s agent, who had this to say:
Peter Donatelli, who represents Jimmy Vesey, had this to say about the Buffalo Sabres acquiring the rights of his client from the Nashville Predators: “In our opinion, the only thing that has happened is now the Sabres have stepped into the shoes of Nashville for exclusive rights [to negotiate] until Aug. 15. However, at this time, it doesn’t change Jimmy Vesey’s intention to become a free agent on Aug. 15.”
Buffalo is so totally stoked!
BUF GM on trading for Vesey rights: “Why not us? Why not give it a shot? We have a spot in our Top 6 for him. We had four 3rd-round picks.”

- Impending RFA Frederik Andersen was traded by the Anaheim Ducks to the Leafs for draft picks this and next year. Oh yeah, then they immediately locked him up to a 5-year deal.

Today’s trades (TOR-ANA, BUF-NSH) emphasize the value of asset management. TOR and BUF loaded with draft picks, had ample currency to deal.

- The FancyCats then traded for the rights of Keith Yandle in a push to strengthen their D-corps and get younger (well, younger than Ol’ Man Campbell) at the position.
NYR receive a 6th rounder, plus a conditional 4th round pick in 2017 if Yandle signs with the Florida Panthers.

paying the price of a draft pick, expect @FlaPanthers to make a push for a long-term deal on Yandle – six years

It’s not a sure thing that Yandle will sign with them, so those who want Yandle to wear the Spoked B can still hold on to a little hope, however small (and unrealistic) it is.
- Here’s a bit of news coming from The Tampa Bay Times regarding the Steven Stamkos situation.
From the official NHL website:
Stamkos would have to grant Yzerman permission to trade his rights because he has a full no-move clause. Yzerman has had talks with Stamkos and his agents, but nothing has changed, and said he is hoping to have a “clear idea of where we are” prior to the weekend.
“We’re doing all we can to sign him,” Yzerman told reporter Joe Smith. “To be honest with you, it’s out of my control. He’s an unrestricted free agent on July 1. I can’t force him to sign a contract with us if he doesn’t want to. If he wants to go to July 1, he has that right.”
Still no word on Loui…yet. Will no news be good news?
Just because I was a jerk for that last thing, here’s Patrice in Vegas.

Where is everyone today?
stuck in scan project hell.
Ew.
The silence here is magnified by the
always super fun entertaining time flies by
alignment segment lolWe’re waiting with bated breath to see what the draft brings!
Trying to figure out why people don’t want to take my money.
I’ll take it!
You’d better brush up on your HVAC, then.
Totally know everything about it. Uh, you don’t ask for references or anything like that, do you?
HVAC…that stands for Heating and vacuums right?
Kinda surprised you have issues finding a guy (or gal) …HVAC and plumbers are like sharks….they can smell the blood of DIY failures. If you were in MA i could point you in the direction of peoples….but alas…
There are plenty of them. Getting one to your house is the tough part.
THIS. This is my problem.
I’ll take it. Hell I’ll take it at 60%
Wait, what? Someone is giving money away? Where do i sign up?
Morning fellow Bear-People!

So in not so big news my contracting firm is getting fired on the 29th…and im being absorbed by the Company’s new contracting firm. Good news…they didnt try to sneak in a paycut…bad news…this job still sucks the soul out of me and i need to book travel to PIT for a month in july….yay?
I feel like Bruins are gonna make a splash for the Blue line…Savior Sweeney is in the works…I can just feel it….its in the ebb and flow …sign K Miller…make us sad..and then as we are in the down swing SIGNS #HOTTAKE.
…or maybe not.
They just did a similar thing here with the firm that hires our temp manufacturing associates. Not sure if they took a cut, but probably since this change came from corporate and not the local office – and corporate does NOT operate the way this company use to.
The trick is, can he make a splash on the blue line without A) Significantly hurting the offence and B) without creating Salary Cap Hell II: Electric Boogaloo.
Dont look now…Bartowski is a FA….. lol …but seriously..id be ok with a 1 year resigning of liles…then add in Campbell on a one year 6 mil…Even Boyle for 1 year $5m would be an improvement. Otherwise… Demers/Yandle for a longer term and shipping out Quaid and Seids somehow… and thats not even considering trades.
I fear for the livestock of Maine should the Bruins be dumb enough to bring him back.
Moose?
Good Morning All! Cafe sans bourbon is beginning to be okay. It’s a start. Just getting over Mom’s birthday party and it’s time to get ready for Deerfield River Festival. Lots of paddling in NW Mass this weekend plus music and cheap beer. Oh yeah, lots and lots of boaters.
Working like a madman lately so I can hang on to my freetime.
League championship game tonight. Should be fun.
What’s in your coffee cup?
What’s in your coffee cup? — Coffee, chocolate & 2% milk. I love my coffee drinks.
Coffee was in my coffee cup. Black. Well, it was in my cup. Didn’t last long.
That actually sounds pretty good
Buongiorno!
Some article based bullet points:
Good Morning!
I actually find this pretty funny. Not only are you likely going to lose him, now you can’t even squeeze a low draft pick out of it either, most likely. I kind of feel bad for Lightning fans.
Finally worked on bills in the budget last night for the first time in what feels like forever. This included reviewing most of the moving expenses. OUCH.
it never seems like you could spend that much money but then when the dust settles it’s all “HOW DID I SPEND SO MUCH”
Recch
“Mistakes were made.” – Sweeney
“rabble rabble grit rabble core players rabble NTC” – Chiarelli
