Morning Free Association, June 28

See ya kid

Good morning everyone! Last night teams had to submit their qualifying offers to RFA’s by 5pm and the Bruins made some obvious choices and some interesting ones in their QO’s.

Also dropping last night was this gem from a former Lightning GM saying the Bruins are among the favorites to land Stamkos. I mean that can’t be legit right? There’s going to be enough talk in this offseason about it happening to get our hopes up to not happen right? Or is it just unlikely enough to #SHOCKTHEWORLD?

What do you think?

Doubtful that the Bruins will offer-sheet another team’s RFA:

Seems like another Fourthalinen.

But able to be stronger on the puck and more responsible possession wise. I read what Kirk wrote about him and he evidently didnt have a very high oppinion of 4thlinenen as some of us did.

I’m all for an improved version of Fourthalinen. If Koppanen can develop into a regular fourth liner, then that’s a very successful fifth round pick.

Morning All! I’m working way too hard these days. Trying to get stuff done for more time off! Heading back to the Deerfield River this weekend. I’m working on rolling in moving water. I need to be more consistent with that. The rivers I plan to paddle this year and next require a bomb proof roll and I plan to have one!
Hoping Mr Sweeney can do something wonderful for the Bs and us. We need a contendah!

Coffee, yeah.

I’m doing a month without booze and am about 10 days in. No big deal. We were going to do gluten free for a month (which meant no beer), but I upped the ante and Jo decided she would do it, too. I have to say, my knees feel better. Eventually I’ll get back to some alcohol, but I may be scrapping beer forever. I’m not interested in the gluten free (taste free) stuff.

TBH gluten free is not good for you unless you actually have gluten issues, though cutting out alcohol does generally make you feel a whole lot healthier in life.

Yes, but alcohol makes people soooooo sexy

So…i just realized they are letting Kemp, Ferrarro, Rinaldo, Talbot and Connolly walk…curious if this means Koko 4th line C ooooorrrr……Kelly has agreed to a 1 yr 1+mil contract….

They are keeping Koko’s rights so we won’t become an UFA. Bruins would rather lose him to the KHL than an other NHL team.

And if he decides to come back to the NHL, the Bruins can get a draft pick or something back in trade for his rights.

We’re stuck with Rinaldo through this season still, unfortunately.

Although I think he’s destined to rot in Providence this year.

The Hall of Fame inductees were announced yesterday:

Eric Lindros
Sergei Makarov
Rogie Vachon
Pat Quinn

I’m surprised and thrilled to see Makarov in there.

Love Makarov, think Lindros is lame but never ever liked him.

It’s the Hall of Fame–not the Hall of Very Good. I don’t want Eric Lindros and Rogie Vachon

I dunno if i can agree with that assessment of Lindros, Though he has no cups he has two olympic medals…multple junior medals…one heart trophy…7 allstars and was always in the top 5 in scoring and is like the 4th fastest player to score most of the point benchmarks…if it wasnt for the cuncussions he may have been even more impressive….but you could say that about injurys to just about any player…but still id argue he deserved it.

For the same reason I’m glad Andreychuk didn’t make it. He was good for a long time, but never great.

Lindros totes deserves it, he was one of the most dynamic players when i was a teenager…him and Jagr were always the two most noticable players on the ice.

Morning, peeps!

BULLET POINTS:

  • Things may be happening with my handsome notboyfriend. Or maybe they aren’t. Who knows?
  • Disappointed about Ferraro. I thought he was solid on the fourth line.
  • I’m glad Connolly won’t be back, but I think we should have QO’d him and traded for future considerations or as a throw-in.
  • Trivia tomorrow. Yay!
  • My crush and I are still fighting over a dollar. I am enjoying it.
  • End of month, this week is going to really fucking blow.

Signing Ferraro seemed like a no brainer. I thought he played really well. Maybe something big is in the works, who knows?

It might be funny, if it wasn’t a clusterfuck whose repercussions will be felt worldwide.

    [Edit]
Oh, you meant their soccer loss. I thought you were talking about their vote to go fuck themselves.

    Satan 81's Sister

Yeah, definitely meant soccer. Brexit is a mind boggling cluster of fucks.

I think she meant the soccer game against Iceland, but yeah, the Brexit situation is gawd awful.

In the absence of England, feel free to point and laugh at me wink

I’m not that bothered – soccer is massively overrated in this country. I didn’t actually watch the game – it clashed with the season finale of Game of Thrones so there was only ever going to be one winner there in our house grinD

Haha, fair enough! My parents have Icelandic horses and go to Iceland once a year so I have a bit of a soft spot for how well they are doing in the tournament.

    The London Bear

Yeah, it’s a bit of a fairytale for them. France will be tough opponents, though, especially in France.

I was in Iceland a couple of months ago, albeit for only an hour to change planes (on the way back from Boston – there’s a tenuous link). Bought a coffee. Have absolutely no idea how much it cost as I didn’t think to research Icelandic Krona smile

Icelandic horses? Do they keep them there or ship them abroad?

    Satan 81's Sister

They have the horses here in Vermont.

I spent time at the University of Tennessee. Surprisingly, she was not viewed as a god. Her demeanor and ethic deflected that kind of praise. I don’t think we knew what we lost until she was forced to leave.

thats kinda surprising….growing up she was Gino before Gino was Gino….her dominance in the sport was impressive.

The Once and Future Bagel Bruin

To outsiders it was easy to see how great she was. However, in Knoxville we saw her work and work daily. Perhaps we got used to it, but inside the bubble it was hard to fully see her accomplishments.

Yeah…kinda like V-Tech and Beamer…no one really took him for granted but he was just kind of a staple that you just knew would be there and make the team competitive.

    Good Morning!

-It’s too bloody humid. On the one hand, I’d like to be environmentally conscious (and save energy costs) and not have more than just the bedroom AC in the house.
-On the other hand, when being home is uncomfortable, you’re doing it wrong.
-Last I checked, Stamkos is not a defender?
-Not surprised by Connolly, though it is sad given what we traded for him.
    -Very surprised by Koko’s QO.
-Finally, for your enjoyment, stick figure murder in PSA form: http://jezebel.com/holy-shit-these-la-metro-safety-psas-are-absolutely-sa-1782692872

I actually hoped they would give Connolly one more year with a more firm spot in the lineup. I think he looked most comfortable next to bergy and he kept getting shuffled around eveyrtime he started to find a groove. I dunno part of me just wants to believe in him.
