Just got back from vacation, and it’s not hockey season yet.
Jim Prior, BU’s adorable old man announcer, died this weekend. You could tell how old he was by his voice, but not by his enthusiasm. I’m bummed that we won’t get to see/hear him this season, but I’m glad he got to see another generational talent like Eichel skate at Agganis.

The Rangers re-signed Kreider and Kevin Hayes to affordable deals. David Pastrnak got some skating in at the park on Prince Street, it seems.

Had a good weekend. Went to Saloon in Davis Square with some friends once I found the entrance to that place. The bouncer that watched me pass him 4 times is probably still laughing.
Starting to get the hang of the atmosphere here, but still quite lost on how to do some things. Hoping it clicks soon.

I missed my first game. Saturday’s game was added Monday, and I made plans to head out of town weeks in advance. Allegedly, the game was horrible. My team fought and argued with themselves on the bench. One player was so fed up he left midway through the second period and did not return. We lost 3-0.
These are dark times for Small Batch Hockey Club.

Good Morning All! Jo’s birthday weekend. We played 27 holes of disc before we wilted on Saturday. Played in the nice, cold, Mongaup River most of the day yesterday. I practiced my roll a lot as it’s a great way to cool off. It’s a very splashy river to paddle anyway so pretty constant cooling. We stopped halfway down to swim and have some snacks. What a great day!
I am driving to Watertown, NY tomorrow morn (4 hours each way) to pick up Jo’s bday present – a boat. Wavesport Mobius. Very hard to find. She’s pretty excited,. I will be le tired.
We had a great campsite this weekend. Very private, yet you could drive in to it. Coffee with bourbon was consumed, as well as bourbon without the damn coffee in it.
Coffee sans bourbon this morning. Lots of seltzer with lemon juice today. I think the pool needs a lot of cleaning today – from the inside, of course.

Port Jervis is not the most happening town, but they do have the Erie (not eerie) Hotel. It’s an 1890’s hotel restored. Very cool Chicago style barroom with lots of wood paneling and brass. Great food, as well.
Missed you guys. Actually have been missing you guys for a bit, it’s been a little crazy on my end, as my crew isn’t as self-sufficient as i’d like them to be, and it doesn’t buy me a hell of a lot of time to do anything that isn’t work. Can’t win ’em all.
