Morning Free Association, September 6

Zach Senyshyn will not participate in Bruins rookie camp this year since he had an appendectomy on Sunday September 4th. As reported on the Bruins website, he will report to Boston for the main training camp but may or may not participate. Let’s all send him warm thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Bruins forwards and linemates, Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand are flanking Sidney Crosby on Team Canada for the World Cup of Hockey. While some people may not like Sidney Crosby, what he represents, or the team for which he plays, Patrice wants to remind you of this:

Patrice doesn’t mind and he shouldn’t because he has won all sorts of gold with Crosby. He knows what the goal is. Fluto Shinzawa wrote about Patrice’s burden going into the WHC and the season on Monday. Since hockey is a young man’s game and Bergy is…GASP!…31, he’s been working on conditioning rather than lifting.

Enough of the news, how was everyone’s weekend?

Morning!

Camping was fun. Made it on two hikes this weekend. Always fun having lunch on top of a mountain.

Hopefully should be done refinishing a dresser to be a TV stand by the end of the week. Then the living room is DONE.

Yikes! The Red Cross just walked into my office. I hope whoever it is is ok. Oh. Right. The German Red Cross is one of our customers.

Chiarelli paused.

“We knew we were going to have to part with a significant player, whoever it was going to be. So, yes, I knew it was possible.”

He declined to reveal when he ultimately decided upon Hall, but it was shortly before the draft.

Holy crap.

Good Morning All!
What an incredible weekend!!! Jo and I had our own campground way the fuck out in the woods. Complete quiet and privacy for three days. We had a friend stay Saturday night, but she was welcome.
Two great days of paddling and a day bumming around the back roads looking for property we can afford up there. We want to retire to NW Mass… and soon! It’s so beautiful up there.
Gimme some hockey!!!! Double header tonight, can’t wait to get back on the ice!
Rolling the kayak in moving water is becoming a reality!!! I practice by finding the squirreliest water on the river and voluntarily flipping the kayak in the middle of it. From there it’s roll or swim and swimming in these places is not pleasant. The funny thing is, the crazier the water the more you have to slow down your roll to make it effective. It’s a process.
Coffee, yes. BTW, we have a stainless, insulated french press for camping that makes the best coffee in them there hills!
What up?

Nnnrrrrrghh…for the past two days I’ve been diagnosing a failed network connection to a backup server in Dubai. Finally had someone useful go onsite and follow the cable into the network closet. Onsite tech sends a picture of an ethernet switch whose lights are all off and says, “Maybe switch is off”. Uh, yeah, y’think?

At least now half of the critical alarms on my list are gone.

Buongiorno

Losing my mind waiting for hockey. Also just can’t wait for the season purely to see how the roster turns out. Im guessing Marchand gets a long term at 7.25 per, anyone else?

Buongiorno! Come stai?

I’m guessing he gets 8 years at 8per

Molto bene, Grazie!

8 per I have no problem with, but does he really get the biggest paycheck on the team you think?

Ive got some Croatian in my blood so it was a good stop on the way to teh fishing village my great grandparents were from, it was a fantastic stop and very easy, thanks again. Im also going to see a Jokerit game in Helsinki this December! Have you been to any KHL games?

Satan81

Sounds like a great trip!

I haven’t been to a KHL game yet, but I ought to fix that one of these days. I’m thinking of going to a Swiss league game in October, since it’s only a 4-hour train ride for me.

My trip to Rome was a four hour train ride for about 35 euros. It would take me 6 hours to drive and we went to Milan from Turin first. European trains are faaaaast. We hit 350km an hour for long stretches

Its all cars and soccer

They need to find a way to combine the two – playing soccer in cars!

Satan 81's Sister

There is a video game where you play soccer with a car.

Satan 81's Sister

Also, pretty sure Top Gear did something like this. At least is seems like a thing they would do.

They play soccer with motorcycles here in Germany! It’s called motoball!

I knew you meant the Bruins, but I think there is pro hockey in Italy. Didn’t Greg Hawgood play over there. Or Frank Simonetti?

Hawgood played two games for Asiago HC in 1990 – 91. I hope they were the Cheese Graters or something like that.

Get ready for paper work. The food and people are some of the best in the world. It makes it worthwhile, but its tough for expats. The bureaucracy and inflexibility of rules is very tough. Lots of silly laws and red tape. But I love it all the same, try to speak a little Italian and they take care of you. Milan is great too btw, beautiful and english friendly. If it goes thru ask me anytime for translations of phrases you use frequently.

Thanks! It’s kinda just a dream, but there’s potential in it. My wife & i have been learning Italian on duolingo slowly but surely lol.

This made me think, why not take a train to Chicago? OH. Because Amtrak is fricken expensive and slow.

You are so right! Flying is cheaper and, as long as the flight is over 300 miles, it’s faster ( Jo drives fast!).
