Morning Free Association, October 24

We have one more day to wait for the Bruins’ sixth game of the season when the Minnesota Mild Wild rumble into town.

That games against the Habs was difficult to watch at time. Though there is little need to rehash the game, aspects of the Bruins defense need to play better (Chiller, Krug) or go away (Morrow). Anton Khudobin did not seem happy after his second loss this season.

Zane McIntyre was sent down to Providence signalling the return of Tuukka in net, likely for the game against the Wild.

So, now is the time to air your grievances about that game, or the defensive problems, or whatever else you want.

So the scuttlebutt is that Khudobin got hurt in practice.
Oh and McQuaid is skating.

The word “scuttlebutt” is not used nearly enough.

Julien confirmed that Adam McQuaid has been cleared to play.

This season is gonna be an interesting one, at least. Keep your senses of humor sharp, everyone. We’ll probably need them from time to time here. smile

My back hurts and I want to fall asleep at my desk.

Where my shoulder and neck meet is feeling kinda sore today, too. Don’t know what I did.

I get that just from sleeping in a bad position.

Miss Muse

Well, that may be the reason then! Been trying to lie in such a way I don’t keep coughing. I guess we’ll have to look at the trade-offs or something.

Julien said there's a lot "up in the air" in regards to decisions for tomorrow's lineup.

How are you adjusting? smile

Still getting used to the idea that I’m here for good and not just visiting. Still crashing early from the jet lag. Need a phone. Otherwise it’s going quite well. Miro’s all settled in and doing great.

Exciting! Glad to hear it!

Morning all!

My cough is on its way out and I had carrot cake for breakfast and so far it’s been an OK Monday.

I’m going to trim my beard really short, just a few degrees past stubble.

Morning all.

While that game was a tough watch at times I really think under other circumstances Bs might have won. Like if they’d bothered to turn up for the second period, for example.

But there a few wide open nets that went unpunished and things like that.

Morrow looked a weak link but I’ll reserve judgement as he was OK the game before.

The second period was brutal all last year too.

I’m done with Morrow. Time to hit the bricks with him and bring O’Gara back.

Certainly wouldn’t be sorry to see O’Gara back in the lineup, but wonder whether Quaider might get the nod instead as he seems to be nearing fitness.

What did Morrow do and not do?

He played 2-on-1s worse than rookie Boychuk, IMO

Do: Bad things
Not Do: Good things

Turnovers, got caught flat footed again and again, lost coverage, etc. All the tools, but his toolbox is a wet paper bag

The more things change, the more they stay the same!

The surprise is that it didn’t give the thing fully on over to cirrhosis last season

So as you know, we are balls to the walls busy with many many (repeat 50 times) printers to do with zero parts to do them with. In the schedule is the field service training printer that “should be quick and easy” (never is) and I’d like to start working on it right now (not really) but I can’t because the head of training puts locks on the power switches.

I SHOT A GUN FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER THIS WEEKEND! It was fun shooting shotguns. I did not enjoy the handguns.

Friday night I played ice hockey on FRESH ice. It was the first time someone played ice hockey on that ice. They added a white powder to the ice to make it more white, and now I have it all over my pants and socks. After hockey my girlfriend and friend from ND played Ages of Empires 2 until 1am. Man, that was great day.

Saturday and Sunday I was in rural, SC, visiting an old friend. It was great catching up with the guy! All in all, awesome weekend. It is a shame it had to end!

That white “paint” is sprayed on after the first layer of ice. Next the lines and faceoff circles. Finally, more ice. The overspray of paint sticks to the boards. If you brush against the boards early in the season, you get the white powder on your gear. It’s a curse for refs as it looks bad on black pants.
