Bagel’s thoughts on the Bruins.
I bet Tuukka doubters changed their minds. This is what you get when you have an average defense and rookie goalies.
Also, I remember why Anton Khudobin spent time in the AHL after his last stint with the Bruins.
Colin Miller is fine. He’s a second year NHL who still needs a lot of work, but the reward is there. This is why LA felt it was okay to trade him.
Can the second and third lines please show up? Teams know they can spend all their time on the first line. That will ruin your defense and offense.

Rask has looked good especially when you consider he’s been fighting an obvious injury. Twice he went down in clear pain but finished the games (and won).
I don’t think that’s fair to Khudobin at all. He’s been better than the other backups we’ve had the past couple years.
Colin Miller, I’m fine with. But he needs work. If guys are going to sit I’d rather see him play than McQuaid whose ceiling is falling on his own head.
Yeah basically the middle of the team has been melty soft-serve ice cream, and teams are pounding Marchand into dust because they don’t need to worry about depth threats.

I like advanced stats. I really do. However, Chiller’s comically low PDO isn’t because he’s been comically unlucky – it’s because he’s been comically awful. Look at the second goal against Montreal. Three Bruins behind the goal line and Chiller in front of the net facing backwards. Yes, there were other Bruins clearly screwing up there, but Chiller was just standing there watching them screw up instead of trying to cover anyone. It’s been a pattern with him – he’s not sure where he should be or who he should cover.
Yes, Quaider’s getting turnstiled. Yes, Krug’s brain is missing. Yes, nobody is playing confidently given who we’re forced to put in net. Do things get better when Killer comes back? *shrug* At the very least the pairs could involve Quaider and Killer only getting 3rd-pair minutes. (side note: Dougie Hamilton is still getting only 3rd-pair minutes in Calgary. lulz)
But hey, at least Carlo’s playing well. He might even be playing better than Chara. For all the fretting and hand-wringing about Donny not going out and getting a 2nd-pair d-man, we found one in our system.

I’ve gotta agree with this. He gets caught out of position with startling regularity.
