Election Day has come and gone and we have a new president-elect.
The Bruins lost a close one in Montreal last night.
These are two of the many things you will likely want to talk about.
I’ll just get out of your way so you can commiserate.

So, is there a morning after pill for elections?
acid?
Hey, new episode of Bearly on Topic with Satan81 is out.
I’m thinking Massachusetts should secede from the Union. The rest of New England is welcome – except New Hampshire.
^ I’m just stirring up shit and having some fun, so don’t get too excited about this. Thanks ^
YEAH
Already tried that once… came out looking like real asshats.
Hey now :-p
Can the entire Northeast & West Coast petition Canada for political asylum?
Fuck guys, we were so close. I fell asleep with it 1-1
Anywho, Im getting my ass kicked in both leagues. I put way too much focus on points and not enough on well rounded players with shot blocks and PIMs. Not that Im scoring much either. Doing really, really well in fantasy football though. They are not similar.
Lots on tap Im guessing?
I will most likely be doing very little drinking over the next couple weeks. If anything it will just help sink me into depression.
Try some Trump vodka? goes good with a trump steak and a trump future
Wait… how did you fall asleep at 1-1? Montreal scored like 20 seconds after Boston’s first! There were three goals in less than two minutes
My feed fell thru during the reply of Boston’s goal and I went to bed
Wait…so Tuukka didn’t play last night but Zane did?
I saw none of the game last night and am surprised that I am not hung over this a.m.
Be excellent to each other. We’re gonna need it.
That is correct. Did you start Tuukka anyway?
Maybe? I don’t know…
I did NOT play him, but only for the reason I knew Price was starting and I have him on the same team as well.
That’s a pretty good goaltending duo
Trade me to Sweden for a citizen to be named later!
Did that Goon sequel ever come out? I like the first one but could see an attempt at a reprise being garbage.
soon.
Soon we’ll have Goon two
I don’t even know where to start. So I won’t.
I’m going to write about Charlemagne, and go teach a bunch of Hispanic kids. I can’t imagine what they’re feeling today.
And fuck Montreal.
may need to restart the underground railroad.
Yeah, that is a sobering thought.
I’m seriously worried about (so many things) how this is going to affect the city that I live in. This town is built on an open exchange with Mexico. Many of my students come across the border from Juarez. Now, I don’t know how that’s going to work.
And, BTW, we have a “wall” here already. It’s a 20-foot tall fence on our side – it has a giant canal in the middle, and there’s another fence on the other side.
That costs 30 million dollars PER MILE. 30 FUCKING MILLION DOLLARS. PER. MILE.
Well, maybe some campaign promises were said for votes not for intent.
That’s my hope: a dog and pony show just to get into the office, and then maybe some stuff that’s less scary and more middle of the road. We need more of that, there’s too much division now. Nobody wants to deal with anyone they don’t agree with.
the issue im seeing is not his intent but the intent of the supporters that now feel empowered again and believe in ideology that is not for equal rights. That is what scares me.
Absolutely.
Agree and this is one of the reasons this election has me drained. A lot of ugliness came out of the woodwork.
im hoping for the justice department to have enough courage to repeatedly say “that is not constitutional and you cannot do that”
With Rudy Giuliani as Attorney General? I don’t see that happening.
I’m not so worried about the wall itself. (Yeah, it’s a huge waste of money and will create environmental havoc, but illegal desert border crossings aren’t really a critical piece of our infrastructure either) I’m more worried about the political/social environment that goes with it.
I can’t remember a president so racism-friendly (Wilson? Someone else from before I was born?), and I think that a lot of really bad things are going to happen under the cover of islamophobia and illegal-immigration hysteria.
Yeah, nationally, you’re right. Here in El Paso, I think the danger is double.
If you want a president from the past as an analogue, Rudy Giuliani was right, look to Andrew Jackson. But unlike Giuliani, I’m not making that a positive comparison.
Im amazed he’s still on the 20
already in the works.
I’ve never understood the immigration issue. This country was founded on the premise that if you have nowhere to go, you come to America. Sure, people will say it’s because everyone should be paying into the system, but we don’t even make our gazillionaires do that, so I don’t know why we’d make destitute people from war torn countries do it.
I just don’t get it.
Because of the ever popular slogan, “Fuck you I’ve got mine”
They seem to forget that this country was founded by undocumented immigrants fleeing persecution. I guess we should just tear down the Statue of Liberty, because “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free” is a lie.
No point. The Supreme Court will be filled with Trump judges. They’ll back the unconstitutional acts.
Well, for now, he gets one. But that one is enough to tip the court in a couple of ways.
Let’s hope RBG can hold on for four years.
Yup.
What drives me nuts in the SC talk is all the foolishness about how there can’t be a liberal majority (but of course a conservative majority is a-ok).
Meanwhile, many dems/liberals are talking about protests and working against him, often in questionable ways. Had Hillary won and Republicans/conservatives made the same comments the same planned-protesters would have excoriated them for it.
The hypocrisy from both sides drives me up a wall.
Me too. For now, we essentially get the SC we had prior to Scalia dying. All we can hope for is Kennedy to keep his cool and tip things towards the side of justice. We’re going to have Kagan, Sotomayor, Breyer, Alito, and Roberts for a good, long time (most likely).
I hate this result. I want to do everything I can to undermine his administration, provided it’s through legal means. So, off to the local party office I go.
Understandable to hate it. I do as well, and I have loathed Clinton for years (to illustrate just how bad Trump is). And obviously do anything within your legal power.
My question though is this… if results were reversed would you be critical of people organizing similar protests or planning similar actions against Clinton’s presidency?
Well, I’m a historian, so I’ll give a historian’s answer: It depends.
To be less equivocal: I would not criticize people for organizing protests. That’s their right to do so. But, I would, if it called for it, criticize their ideas. They have their right to voice their opinion; I have the right to voice mine. They can criticize my ideas; I can criticize theirs. Freedom of speech isn’t a zero-sum game; it’s an infinite continuum.
well stated.
Perfectly stated. Unfortunately, I do not think the vast majority of our fellow citizens would hold the same viewpoint.
Yeah, same here.
30 FUCKING MILLION DOLLARS. PER. MILE.
And is about as effective as the Maginot Line!
What’s even the political process for building the wall? I mean I thought it was impossible but I guess we have to explore it right? Does he just draw up a budget? Who authorizes construction?
Also, will Trump pay these workers or sue them?
I really fucked up my back last night playing hockey. Walking is difficult today.
I stayed up until 3:30am watching the results.
Perhaps hockey should wait for your back to heal.
I really fucked up my back last night playing hockey.
Sorry to hear that.
You know, all I can think about with the Bruins loss and our presidential farce is that they pre-empted The Middle for that shit.
Hey all. I got nothing. Just very numb right now. So here’s a picture of Bergy:

^ This helps! ^
