Morning Food Association: December 9

Oh my god look at this BAMF!

He is the flying Finish king and he went from wrecking milk crates to wrecking opposing teams playoff chances!

He looks like an elf or an alien or some shit!

Personally, I’ve never seen him to be an alien, but an elf, abso-fucking-lutely. So that’s the basis of today’s food pairing. Tuukka Rask as food = Lembas Bread.

What’s on tap for this weekend??

From Scott Cullen:

Something to shoot for: there have been eight seasons since 2000-2001 in which a player scored at least 35 goals at 20-years-of-age or younger, and that includes two each for Steven Stamkos, Ilya Kovalchuk and Sidney Crosby, and one for Alex Ovechkin and Rick Nash. Those are all first overall picks in the NHL Draft, so not bad company for a late first-rounder.

Talk about some impressive company…

Waiting for the furnace guy to get here. We rely on the woodstove, mainly. If we’re going to be out for any length of time, though, it gets dicey in the real cold weather. The furnace is only about 55 years old, what could be wrong?

I think I’m ready to go home now.

Good morning, friends. Tough break last night – but oh my Flying Spaghetti Monster, David Pastrnak is the earthly avatar of his noodly appendage. Sign him forever.

Now, if the Bruins can just stop spotting their opponents 3-goal leads…

Only problem with his production is he’s turning the Bruins into a one-line team! The second line is next to useless but no way you can take Pasta of that wing and risk losing the best line in the NHL

The London Bear

How about:
63-37-72
42-46-88

They can be line 1 and 1a – equal ice time.

Pasta’s success has been so much down to himself, I can’t believe he would stop producing with different linemates.

I’d suggest trying Frankie V on the Krecji line first, before messing around with the Bergy line. If that doesn’t work, then try swapping him with Pasta.

Fair comment, sir

Do you really want to risk that? Dangerous to mess with chemistry…

The London Bear

I think it’s certainly worth trying for a match or two.

That’s the thing – I’m not convinced Pasta’s success this year has been because of great chemistry with 63 & 37. His record in international and pre-NHL suggests he can slide straight onto any line and produce straight away.

And as you said, that second line as it stands is as good as useless.

Maybe having Frankie on their wing might spark Bergy and Marchand to regain their form? I don’t know. Like I said, I think it’s worth a try.

Hey Guys,

For those going to the Isles game on the 20th, we need to start thinking about the logistics of meeting up. I was thinking of meeting up around 5 or so but I’m not sure where would be a good place. It could be The Fours, but that might be bit loud. There’s Tavern on the Square and Boston Beer Works. Any suggestions?

I like Boston Beer Works a lot. We could get space upstairs there.

Or maybe a place near Faneuil Hall, like Clarke’s?

How will we know if you’re there if you’re Anonymous?

The jersey I’m wearing might be a tip-off.

You have a jersey for Anonymous? When did he play for the Bruins & what number did he wear?

Whoops, that was me.

There’s Beantown Pub on the south side of the Common. Probly about 15mins walk from the stadium but there’s a jukebox and pool tables!

Poor Islanders fans… the day after seeing this beauty they get subjected to a 5-year, 17.5M deal (3.5 per) for Cal Clutterbuck…

Go home, Islanders. You’re drunk.

Lembas – the more you rely solely on it for food, the more fortifying it becomes!
I could use a shot of miravor, as well.

Good Morning All!
I was sick yesterday. Stayed in bed all day without enough energy to log on. Feeling better today – it may have been a little food poisoning, not sure.
Reffed my double header last night anyway. Player on bench: “What was that, a trip?” Me: “No idea, please be quiet, I’m sleeping.” Player: “Okay, I like no calls anyway”.
Locked in quite the battle with “Don’t be Saad, be Krejci” this week… good stuff.
No games today! Jo and I are going to see Melissa Etheridge and her Christmas show tonight in Great Barrington – a great town.
Coffee plus. I survived yesterday on hot toddies (hot water, lemon juice, honey, cloves and BOURBON).

Something very different from her regular shows. A trio, in a smallish venue (Mahaiwe Theatre). We’re excited.

Morning all,

So, the Bruins played a game last night. At least some guys in Bruins jerseys played but very little evidence they were the same ones who were in Washington the night before.

Wow, Pasta! It’s not just his brilliance, but his consistent brilliance. Even if the rest of the team are slacking he still brings it. Long may it continue.

Speaking of brilliance, Connor McDavid has nine points more than the second-most potent player. Nine points further back takes in the next 47 players!! Unbelievable start to the season and I hope Oilers fans are enjoying him – they deserve it after the years of crap they’ve had to put up with.

On tap this weekend – trying to shake off this cold, which isn’t a severe one thankfully. Also, on Sunday I’m taking Baby Bear to the cinema to see Moana (in 3D!), which is the new Disney princess movie. I will pretend it’s a chore but I’m actually quite looking forward to it smile

So, you’re saying that Sweeney could talk Chia into trading him for Quaider?

He’s this year’s version of last year’s Marchand.

Disney are at the top of their game. Zootopia/Zootropolis was basically a film for adults, dressed up to also appeal to kids more than the other way around!

Satan 81's Sister

Hmmm…I do need a movie to watch tonight. Perhaps I shall consider Zootopia.

I liked the original concept a lot more. It was much darker, you can find on youtube a put together of all the cut scenes and such. To me the released version fits too closely to the mold of “passionate young by the books cop paired with an unlikely partner that borders on the line of decency to solve the crime.”

I saw Moana. We took Jo’s mom to see it Thanksgiving Day I won’t comment until you’ve seen it.
