Game Day Thread: Maple Leafs at Bruins

The Bruins are hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight

Last time these teams met, the Bruins did not come out on top, losing 1-4 to the buds.
But this time it’s personal!

Or not.

In game 2 when they met, the Leafs’ Austin Matthews and our own Brad Marchand were both on fire, having both come off multiple goal games. However neither player scored, with only Marchy appearing on the scorecard with a lonely secondary assist.
Now Matthews has settled in with 11 goals on the season to Marchand’s 7, with both players left in the dust of Never Ending Pasta’s 18 goals.

The Bruins roster has taken some blows, with Matt Beleskey expected to be out for another 5-6 weeks due to a ‘lower body injury’ (knee), and defenseman John-Michael Liles out with a concussion. Long sidelined forward Frank Vatrano has barely begun skating since undergoing surgery on Sept 26th, and while skating at Bruins practices, is not so close to challenging for a roster spot.

But it is not all bad news…
Noel Acciari is back!
And he’s playing!

So is Danton Heinen.
Anton Blidh has returned to Providence, and New Hampshire Timmy Schaller is returning to the Merlot line.

Expected lines:

Tuukka Rask is the likely goaltender, with Khudobin manning the door to the players bench.

For the Leafs, expected lines are:

Leo Komarov – Nazem Kadri – William Nylander
James van Riemsdyk – Tyler Bozak – Mitch Marner
Zach Hyman – Auston Matthews – Connor Brown
Matt Martin – Ben Smith – Nikita Soshnikov

Defensive Pairings:
Morgan Rielly – Nikita Zaitsev
Jake Gardiner – Connor Carrick
Matt Hunwick – Roman Polak

Frederik Andersen
(Antoine Bibeau)
