Morning Free Association: December 28

So, the Bruins lost last night against the Blue Jackets. It was bound to happen after posting victories in the previous two games this season. It almost doesn’t feel that bad since they lost to a team that seems like they’re a better team (for now) than them, unlike losses to lowly teams like the Leafs or the Isles.

The team plays again on Thursday night at the Sabres and then close out stupid 2016 at home against the same Sabres in a matinee game.

Sorry, I just don’t have anything more to say about this team right now.

Just got my not so Secret Santa gift! Doctors two years in a row! Who would have thunk it for the guy who you couldn’t drag to a doctor’s office with a twenty mule team.
Anyhow…. our doctor of the northern border came through big time. Wine from the Gaspereau Valley in Nova Scotia. Looking forward to popping that open soon (is it 5 o’clock yet?).
I haven’t been exactly to the Gaspereau Valley, but I used to run up to Guysboro back in the day, but that’s a story for another day. Thank you, Sir!

You’re welcome Stripes! That stuff (Nova 7) is a really good pink sparkling wine and pretty much the flagship for the entire NS wine industry.

Guysborough, huh? might have to hear this one some time.

As for whoever had me in the secret Santa, be patient, I’ll get it when I get back to NS Monday night. If I was smart or some shit I would have put my parents house in NH as the address (I’d have it now and probably would have saved ya a couple bucks)

It’s five minutes to five here, that’s close enough. Go Ahead.

Awesome! I love how both of us doctors cut to the chase and did booze.

Two out of two Doctors prescribe ‘drinking’, for their patients who have livers.

I had a co-worker once who was being stupid and impatient which resulted in him not sticking around the bar for a drink or two. Long story short, he ended up breaking his arm rock climbing. If he had just had the drink he wouldn’t have ended up at the rock gym to break it.

Moral of the Story: Drinking is good for your health.

Hi friends. At first I was sad about missing another game last night, then I read what happened. UGH.

How’re y’all?

I missed most of it despite being sequestered.

Good morning, pals.

Working from the leper colony that is my apartment today.

I would take the day off and sleep through it, but my default #2 is on vacation and I don’t want to screw the other four people who work for me. That’s why I get the big bucks, right?

I’ve been thinking about the Bruins’ lines. Why not have Spooner center the third line and have Czarnik play the wing? Then you can put Vatrano with Krejci and Backes, which could actually be pretty lethal: patient playmaker, guy who constantly throws quality shots at the net, and a guy who can clean up the trash rebounds? Yes, please. That leaves some finagling to be done with the third and fourth lines, but it’s worth a try, no?

Glad Liles is skating again.

Yes to Spoons centering the third line!

The London Bear

Though Jack and Brick are always saying about how Czarnik has thrived as a centre…

Are we still thinking Spoons will be traded at the deadline?

For what though? Another middling defender?

The London Bear

Well, exactly! That was what I was thinking when trading him was being so strongly bandied around a month or so ago.

Bs have such a strong pack of prospects maybe he could be packaged with a first-round pick or two?

But in general, I don’t like trade talk – partly because all the rumours so often turn out to be false…

scoring winger?

Maybe before then?
I think Czarnik is better at center BUT he transitions to wing much better than Spooner does.

On a similar subject – has Blidh cemented his place ahead of Schaller and Acciari? They’re not injured are they?

Interesting to see what happens when Beleskey comes back.

phonymahoney

Maybe they’re fighting something, or maybe Claude is just trying to find something that works.

I have liked Blidh since his first devcamp – I like him a LOT, but I can’t see him overtaking either of those guys.

Blidh seems like a good prospect, but Schaller & Acciari are more ready right now. I have to assume that Blidh gets sent back down. Possibly quite soon, as he has already played 10 games with the big club, and Vatrano is filling the Beleskey spot.

DrHandgrenaid

Well, Blidh is still on his ELC and isn’t waiver eligible, so 10 games doesn’t matter here. But still not really sure why Blidh and Hayes over Schaller and Acciari

Hi!

I buy a house and the first winter I’m going to have to shovel at least once a week? If we get what’s predicted tomorrow (especially where it will be wet and heavy), I’m literally only shoveling as much as I need to fit two cars and get to the door.

My wife did. I like to think I chose her over Mass. NH was just a side effect.

Probably. Although it looks like they have no clue what Manchester is getting, so maybe it won’t be bad (for me).

Good Morning All!
Listened to last night’s game. Frustrating.
Foligno would look great in black and gold. He’s a beast.
Chillin’ with Jo today. We’re too tired to go up north.

Sorry, I just don’t have anything more to say about this team right now.

They’re so hard to even talk about. In the 1st half of the 1st period, they were the worst team in the league. In the 2nd half, they were the best. It’s mind boggling

What is going on in that photo though, Vatrano(?) on the left looks petrified that Moore has become possessed, while Pasta & whoever’s on his left look longingly like “oh shit our friend’s gone”

Only 3 more days until this year’s over!

In fairness, the Jackets were so dynamic in the first ten minutes it was like the Bs weren’t even there. Their play was so fluid any team would have struggled to contain them, though the Bs did make their share of defensive errors.

At least the Bruins gave them as much to do as any team has this month. But we really need to get points in the book. If all the teams with games in hand on the Bruins win all those games then we’ll really be in a hole

I just don’t understand how the BJs have won 13 games in a row. I’ve seen at least 4 of their games this year, and Bob hasn’t looked particularly wonderful, and the skaters haven’t been anything special. Perhaps they dominate time of possession against teams that aren’t the Bruins?
