It is now a four-game losing streak. Sure they got a point out of Detroit, but they still lost the game.
On Friday night, The Bruins played a good game against the Blackhawks but came up short, losing 1-0. After the game, Bruins head coach Claude Julien spoke with the media briefly, opting to leave after CSNNE beat reporter Joe Haggerty decided to ask a question that only a jackass would pose: whether or not Julien was concerned about his job security. Claude curtly responded that he wasn’t a shock journalist and declined to answer the question, abruptly ending his time with the media. Nice job, bud.
Honestly, I wanted to reach through the radio and strangle the idiot myself. After a tough loss, in which the team actually played well, to ask that seemed ill-timed at best and lazy at worst. Regardless of how you feel about the validity of the question, the timing was off.
Anyway, Claude released a statement about it the next day:

Let’s skip to Sunday. It was kind of a weird game with uncooperative ice that needed Extreme Makeover: Ice Rink Edition, an early first intermission, and a small break before the second period after playing the remaining time of the first. The Penguins had a lead of 2 goals when David Krejci scored, but that was as good as it got.
Starting netminder Tuukka Rask left the game in the second period with a vision problem, which was later clarified by the Globe’s Fluto Shinzawa.
Migraine for Tuukka Rask.

Backup goaltender Zane McIntyre came in and the team gradually collapsed around him, 5-1, after allowing three unanswered goals in the third period.
It’s hard to believe that Claude Julien will retain his job after this. It’s hard to think that he believes in his job security after this game.

Mexico’s Colima volcano erupts violently
Just saw this headline and was thinking “you don’t hear much about the quiet, peaceful eruptions, only the violent one”. Yes, my brain is a scary place.
Those nice, peaceful eruptions are so fun!
I’m so tired of the violent eruptions ruining it for the peaceful eruptions. #alleruptionsmatter
Peaceful is best.
#AllEruptionsMatter
D’awwwww. What an adorable, peaceful Hulk.
Well there it is. The dumbest thing I’ve ever read.
this is fucking gold
I CANT SEE TWITTER DAMMNIT.
You can’t see Twitter and Unstable can’t see this image!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
Sis today:

I am a little extra snarky today, aren’t I?
Snarfy?
You’re no Dolores Herbig, that’s for sure.
Pretty sure that image is broken.
Basically saying trade Bergeron because he’ll never get a cup here. Keep Marchand and Pasta, get rid of rest.
Ha, my friend in pitts. just said “word on street is Bergy is coming to the Pens”…i responded…”Pretty sure the Steelers loss has made you delirious.”
This is a proper response.
Unless he means Berglund or MA Bergeron, he is DREAMING.

Did Julien say “Fuck it. Practice is cancelled for the rest of the season.”?
Never mind, they’re watching TV.
I hope “video work” is Julien showing them clip after clip of Nazis getting punched and saying that’s what he’s going to do to them if they don’t win.
Or at least watching them stop playing going “SEE, THIS IS THE SHIT THAT’S GONNA GET ME FIRED, DO YOU WANT THAT”
“YOU LOST IN FRONT OF YOUR MOTHERS!”
If that doesn’t work, nothing will.
Obviosuly, they were more worried about cooking class with the moms, since they all only know how to make Kraft Dinner.
I wonder if you’re allowed to eat macaroni and cheese for lunch in Canada?
Nope. Only Kraft Dinner.
is it just me that gets pissed off at Bruins PR and Behind the B when they lose horribly and suck.
YOU SUCK STOP DOING THINGS THAT ARENT HOCKEY AND DO THINGS TO MAKE YOU BETTER.
I’ll let Jordan tell them.
I’m not a fan of all that stuff. I could care less what players do off the ice – other than practicing the stuff they do on the ice (so they don’t suck at it!). I have enough of my own personal stuff to keep track of!
I admit that I still watch it but I don’t make time for it. Like I’ll watch it if I’m bored. It’s also fun to see how they can actually skirt around the real team issues each episode.
I like it for the game audio that you don’t get live, but that’s it
hahhahahaa oh i could see this.
This could be effective.
I’ve been wondering if they would spend some more time doing that. It really seems as if NHL teams do surprisingly little of that.
I was wondering if they were having a ‘players-only meeting’. It bothers me that we hear lip-service from players & Claude after a bad loss, but after a close loss, they’re all like ‘we did some good things’, ‘good things will come’, ‘deserved a better fate’…
They’ve not put out a lot of 60-minute efforts all year. That’s something they should be angry about, and should be on the lookout for during games. Maybe now they’re finally hitting rock bottom, and will bounce back a little?
I stayed up late to do a little research and to write up tomorrow’s MFA about this very subject because I have been wondering why it hasn’t happened. I hate to say that a player’s only meeting doesn’t mean as much when you don’t do it in the moment, i.e, immediately after the loss.
How do we know it hasn’t?

So uncomfortable watching this gif
We don’t but I don’t think it has. Somehow, the media always knows of these things. Sitting around in a circle and hugging it out isn’t working.
Well, that was anti-climactic.
Uh oh. Sweeney finally did it. He went and traded the whole team.
But think about all the draft picks we have now!
Ha!
I am now going on 3.5 hours waiting for critical parts from the stock room. Wtf are we doing here?
Sheesh, we’re trying to fix the Bruins here and now you want us to sort out the meaning of life as well?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ucQrpErEYI
Well, that’s you’re problem there. You’ve brought an F1 car to a hockey game.
Great, the Bruins are playing so poorly they forget which sport they are supposed to be playing.
So that’s the problem!
I’m glad we solved it.
The Bruins should really hire us as consultants.
Well, I was trying to get a gig with the NHL to improve the entertainment value of their shows. But no one has called. Or maybe they have and I can’t understand it.
No they just flat out stole your ideas after listening to the last BoT
I didn’t hear anything about tent building!
yeah…cars drive around on like 4 really large hockey pucks…ice is slippery.
My absolute favorite radio call from a very angry German
You have a list of your favourite radio calls from angry Germans? I can’t wait to see what else is on this list.
ha that gif

If you’d like, I can call you and berate you in German. It will make absolutely no sense but it might make you feel happy.
I would in fact like that haha.
This would be the best alarm clock ever.

Most awkward moment in TV history. I enjoyed it and cringed.
I have no idea what the context for this is, but this gif makes me laugh
Dude. You really need to watch Breaking Bad.
Haven’t seen a minute of it
It’s on Netflix, and probably all over the internet. Get yourself together, it’s soooooooo worth it. One of the best shows ever.
It really is. I was an early adopter on that shit and it was well worth it.
There are so many moments int his show that i found so fantastic.

Wait! You don’t use a bat for hockey!
Seriously. Get your priorities straight, CB.
Good morning, friends.
Our team sucks. Except when they don’t suck. But whatever team stepped out on the ice yesterday definitely sucked.
Happy Monday.
Were I Claude, my biggest concern regarding my job security is the fact that management just explicitly stated he won’t be fired. Talk about a death knell…
This team is making me want to punch a Nazi.
or a Haggs?
Nah, give Haggs some credit. The team’s play has nothing to do with our collectively wanting to punch him. That is entirely his doing and his alone.
but the team play has something to do with wanting to punch a nazi?
Touche.
Punches for everybody! And double punches for Haggs! And TRIPLE punches for Nazis!
And you get a punch! And you get a punch! And you get a punch!
If there are no Nazis around, Haggs will do.
This implies there are times you don’t want to punch a Nazi? Because I’m always down for that.
Jerk. *looks at phone to see image*
Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe.

Rrrrrrecch
Of humor, the NY Times today has an article discussing if it is, in fact, OK to punch a Nazi.
No really, I’m not kidding: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/21/us/politics/richard-spencer-punched-attack.html?_r=0
I can only imagine the author while writing this story:
“I really have to write an article about punching Nazis?”
It is okay. Yes, free speech, but you know what? Sometimes, when someone really deserves a punch in the face, they should get one.
See: Claude Lemieux.

Yes, I just compared these two situations. No, I don’t feel bad about it.
I loved it, the punch in his face. I watched it a few times and giggled.
Hi everyone.
My friends didn’t have a birthday party for their son’s first birthday for this exact reason. They didn’t see the point of going through all that stress for something he wasn’t going to remember anyway.
^My parents continued using that theory all the way through our childhood.^
(mine too)
1st bday parties are totally for families and only really matter for the first child. Second child gets a minimalist 1st BDay.
This is pretty much true. Our friend’s had one a few months ago, but really it was just their family and a very small amount of friends that they’re really close with.
And yes, it was their first.
People are ridiculous about kids’ birthdays now. It’s like a competition for insecure parents.
This is a new role for me – being conservative. It only applies to my hockey team!!!
This team is rebuilding. Do we, the fans, want the team to sacrifice the future to be in the playoffs right now? I think the Bs can make the playoffs. If they don’t….???? The plan rolls on. The D gets younger (eventually) and something good happens before Bergy, Krejci, and Marchand head for the old folks home. B Rad is younger than the “old guys”, but that is the plan, right Sweens?
Hi!
Not much doubt the future looks brighter than the present, but it would be nice for some of the youngsters to get some experience of playoff hockey.
As far as the current situation goes, I’d say do nothing now. Give McIntyre a few starts. Take any points we score between now and the AS Game as a bonus, then regroup and try to put together a run of wins afterwards.
If the Bs form is just as bad in the ten games after the AS break then look at making some changes.
Tiredness does seem to be a major factor at the moment and in a league where the teams are so closely matched that can make a huge difference.
This is well said
A part of me wants them to be sellers anyway. Would love to see Spoons moved for ’17 picks, McQuaid or Miller moved for space to bring in McAvoy. Would love them to send Schaller down & bring up DeBrusk or Cehlarik. Shake it up
I think you move McQuaid over Miller (can’t believe I just said that), and I think Schaller has been one of the more consistent players in the lineup. IMO he shouldn’t go down to Providence.
Last year saying McQauid over Miller would have been blasphemy haha. I agree on Schaller, he’s been consistent, constantly grinding, but I don’t think he has the skill to play 2nd line. Sending Schaller down is a hell of a wake up call (hopefully) doesn’t need waivers (maybe?) & shakes up the line up in a big way. Hopefully that means putting Beleskey on Krecji’s left but who knows too?
I still say Beleskey – Spooner – Pasta third line would be stupid fun.
Vitrano – DK- Backes
Marchand – Bergy – Hayes
Beleskey -Spoon – Pasta
Moore – Shaller – Czar – Nash- whatever…it works.
Why Hayes?
Because if Bergy-Marshy cant get him some tip ins no one can, I would say put DK on with Vitrano and Hayes but hes being a lil bitch about who his line is….but DK may be able to slow down the pace long enough to allow Hayes to get his butt in front of the net…so if you wanna swap out him and Backes id be ok with that…but i think for Hayes confidence bergy and marshy would do him wonders.
And while the team sucks….why not try something drastic.
I guess you try Hayes with 37 & 63 for a couple weeks and if it doesn’t work, you waive him?
I guess you try Hayes with 37 & 63 for a couple weeks and if it doesn’t work, you waive him?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed, I think it would be a blast. I also think Pastrnak needs more than third line minutes.
I thought that too, but i think if he is overthinking or holding his stick too tight, take some pressure off him and pair him against some easier D pairings and let him have a go!
Scoring 20 is a big deal in the NHL and him sitting on 19 is possibly weighing on him to cross that milestone
I doubt it, to be honest. He seems pretty loosey goosey.
I just don’t know why you would do that with a guy who can easily play on your third or fourth line when there are other guys who have done a crappy job who you can bench or send down.
Yeah. I was only thinking of waivers for him specifically. Nash would be a good one to waive or Czarnik (he’s a 2 way deal right)
No. We knew this was going to be a bridge year of sorts. There’s no reason to mortgage the future when we aren’t winning the Cup this year anyway. Is a playoff run that important when you know you’re not really going to get past the first, or if you’re lucky, the second round?
We have all kinds of prospects that are pretty close, there’s no reason to do anything stupid to appease casual fans and loudmouths on twitter.
While I wholly agree with you on this, I fear that this is NOT the thought process of the Jacobs clan (and possibly Cam). They want that extra playoff gate revenue!
Of course they do!
I think the problem is that we dont know if the executive office is thinking logically or irrational.
A smart person looks at our D prospect pool and thinks about what our current core is and what our needs are to complement the strengths of the players we have.
An irrational person would say the core is rotten and something is wrong and we need to start over and make a firesale, trade prospects for bargain talent that is out there on bad teams and rebuild the core.
I think Sweeney knows what the untouchables are. I think he hopes the team he put together has what it takes to make the playoffs and give some confidence to the team that just cant find any rhythm once so ever. But i think he is smart enough to recognise he still has some work to do and it may have to get worse to get better. We have a lot to look forward to internally, but none have been tested on the NHL level yet. I trust Cassidy knows his players potential in the system and what is needed to get them ready.
Exactly this. The only people talking are the fans and media. Sweeney / Cam haven’t said 2 words regarding the team other than vague stuff about Claude. Is their silence because of hard work creating deals or is it because nothing is going to be done?
I hope its because they recognise that its not their job as part of operations to do the job of the GM.
Agreed!
I say no. It’s not worth it to me as a fan to have to keep going through this. We do it, we make the POs this year and then what? Are we stuck in the same position next year?
Rebuild. But do it right.
Good Morning!
Yeah. Turned that game off as soon as the 4th goal was scored. Decided listening to music would make house cleaning more fun than that tire fire.
Conspiracy Theory Time! The migraine is just a cover. I prefer to believe that Rask was basically like “Yo, fuck this, I’m out”, mostly because that’s basically how I quit watching this one.
Turned that game off as soon as the 4th goal was scored.
I wanted to watch the 3rd. That means going up to the main house where there is cable. Jo decided to stay in bed (we were there all day). By the time I got to the telly it was 3-1. Seconds later – 4-1. I saw the 5th goal just before I shut the set off. When Jo heard the door open on my return, she started laughing her ass off. She had been listening on her phone and knew I’d be coming through the door any second. All you can do is laugh it off.
There’s enough else going on to keep me from dwelling. That’s what’s saving me this season.
