Morning Free Association: March 6

We’re ten games into the Bruce Cassidy Era and the Bruins are 8-2 since he’s taken over the head coaching duties. Hooray!

Most recently, the Bruins defeated the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night, 3-2. Woo hoo! Drew Stafford made his Bruins debut and was greeted by NO GOAL in the form of a goal being called back for goaltender interference.

Did you know that Adam McQuaid took a skate to the neck? I didn’t. He’s ok and should be good to go for tonight’s game against the Senators in Ottawa.

That’s one tough hombre.

Is it acceptable or not acceptable to lay on an “I told you so” on the general manager of my office?

Long story short: I suggested a scrap and rebuild of a kit two weeks ago. He insisted the customer would accept the defect. Today, they rejected the defect. Now we still need to rebuild and will be late.

The “I told you so” is silent and should remain that way. However, a little smirk is in order.

I love to sing stupid songs while Jo is around and I delight in hearing her humming it later and telling me what a jerk I am because that song is stuck in her head.

A couple years ago I was about to break up a fight on the ice. I hesitated for a second, waiting for the right opportunity to step in. My partner was ready, too, waiting. Suddenly one of the two fighters swung the other around in a manner that made his feet leave the ice and fly out in my direction. I stepped back, but one skate blade slid across the back of my hand, laying it open with surgical precision. It was just a flesh wound, but holy shit, my heart was thumpin’!!!

  • I DVRed Saturday’s game and actually watched the recording. Baby steps.
  • Stafford looked good (too bad that goal was disallowed, which I think was BS). His pass to Spooner was a beaut.
  • Cehlarik is going to score one of these days. He’s getting good chances and I don’t think he’s looked out of place for a second. He slid right into the lineup like he had always been playing there.
  • It may have been New Jersey, but Khudobin didn’t scare the crap out of me. That was nice.
  • My coffee smells like used car today. I don’t know what the fucking deal is.
  • Went to yoga yesterday morning. Again, it was delightful. Brought my mother along, which of course was entertaining. She’s so cute.
  • I really need someone to do something about this knee. Yikes!
  • What’s on tap? (besides used car smelling coffee)

That whole Vatrano to Stafford to Spooner was triangle perfection.

paced the league with 16 points and 11 assists, while leading the Crimson with 18 goals.

This confused me a bit, but Yay?

He probably had 16 points in conference play while scoring 18 goals throughout the season?

    Good morning!

My spring league began last night. My brother and I joined in after the 3rd game. We were placed on a team full of fireman! I have to say, they have the coolest jerseys!

    comment image?oh=694d377779613d31b9f47d974d4c3ff3&oe=597094C1

Sadly, they are all out, so I am just wearing a black jersey. I get to pick my number, so I chose my middle school favorite 74. My current favorite is 19, but it is worn by the star player.

Those jerseys are badass, sorry you couldn’t get one!

The Once and Future Bagel Bruin

Quite alright. All the guys who have those jerseys are actually fire fighters anyway. There’s like 20 guys on the team, but since they are fire fighters, they all can’t play every game because they city would burn

    Morning B2B!

Yeah, Saturday’s game was a bit of a mess. Possibly the worst the Bs have played since the coaching change in terms of misplaced passes and lapses and such. And what the hell was the siren all about??!!

Anyway, tonight’s the big one. If they beat the Sens in all three meetings then Bs have a chance to top the division and have a go at a playoff run! Did I see Burrows scored two goals on his Ottawa debut? crazy.

I’m surprised the Nicks game where they played no music or video in the first half received such a positive response on Social Media. I think that stuff really adds to the atmosphere and gives home arenas the chance to create an identity, if you catch my meaning.

I’m also fine with Mexican waves. I love spontaneous crowd behaviour. The chants in hockey are fun, and I loved joining in when I went to the game. In fact, I’d like to see some soccer-style songs coming from the crowd.

(NSFW). And Mancs means people from Manchester – they aren’t being racist!

There was a lot of shady POTUS stuff happening in that game.

the #AlternativeFacts interference call on Miller instead of the obvious boarding

the #FAKENEWS goal over turning by “libitard” toronto

and of course the russian hacking of the siren

I love the different ways cultures do sports things. In baseball, Japanese crowds have different chants for different players. Love Central and South American baseball crowds. They bring a lot of energy and give it a party feel.

Sometimes the music in arenas seems forced and it starts the instant action stops. There is no real feel of how the audience is reacting. I can understand it when the team sucks, but this is standard procedure in every arena in every town. Too homogeneous for me!

nuber one rule of being a sports sound guy….never start a generic rally starter when the crowd is already pumped. The problem is people clap along with them but as soon as the organ/music stops the music so do the people its not like people keep chanting when you stop the 5 second sound clip.

Natural chants and energy however can go on as long as the crowd wills it to be there. So by adding in a sound clip to fan made energy is like throwing out a control fire on a forest fire.

sadly…most stadium sound guys dont understand this…even though its really one of their only 3 jobs.
