Morning Food Association: March 10

Good morning, who’s hungry? I know I sure am. What’s better than having breakfast? Well, discussing this mornings MFA with my wife I told her that I was thinking about doing Chara, and her suggestion was something that was good as a child, but disappointing now
null

oh no she didn’t! Well, I thought since Chara is tall, what is there for tall food. What about a tall stack of pancakes? mmmmmmm pancakes
null

How do you all like your pancakes

I’m pretty disappointed with myself right now. I actually worked today.

Now, what’d you go & do a thing like that for?

Hey all!

I LOVE chocolate chip pancakes. smile

I have a mix at home, but you’re reminding me it’s been awhile since I went out for breakfast. I usually then get waffles or French toast, however.

Tomorrow, I’m missing the Flyers game (a lot of it, anyway) for an eye exam. Part of me wants to punt the appointment again, but their office has been hounding me for awhile, so I must really be due for a checkup. And I need new contacts, anyway.

And then Sunday, I’m taking a couple of workshops at the local shelter to learn about how to go about caring for the cats in their facility and also how to help the Fostering team do their thing (put together packets, update websites, etc.)

Athena is going to be featured on this “talk show” at UCB called “Chats on Cats.” She’s in the running to be the Cat of the Month. grin If she wins, I hope the fame won’t go to her head.

Our family friend who moved to Australia got kicked out of Australia (wrong visa) but she now has a job with one of the Czech hockey authorities looking after foreign hockey teams when they visit Prague.

She is currently looking after the Victoria Silver Marmots – a seniors team from British Columbia.

Sounds like a great job!

Wow! I think it even cool such a job exists!

Random stuff:
Going to my buddy’s place tonight. His wife is out of town and Crosby plays McDavid tonight. Yup, BRO NIGHT. Jameson and ‘Gansetts on tap.

Last Saturday I went on a first date which went surprisingly well. She did not know I was majorly into hockey and mentioned she wanted to see an NHL game. Well, for date two I am shelling out the big bucks to see the Canes. (Lol big bucks and the Canes!) Girl is gorgeous, likes metal, hates Ray LaMontagne and works for a not for profit. I hope there is a bloody fight between the Perds and the Canes next Saturday.

Tomorrow night my bro and I are going to see Son Volt, one of our favorite bands. This will be our first time seeing them so we are stoked! We are really into that whole alt country thing.

Also, I fucking love my rec hockey team this season.

Good luck, BB! She sounds promising! smile

I forgot all about that guy. Yeah, I didn’t care for him either.

Jameson

Good choice!

There’s a radio station in the Boston area that loves him. I don’t get it – his stuff puts me to sleep and sucks.

Who is he? I’ve never heard of him. I looked him up and I honestly have heard nothing by him.

Douchebag singer-songwriter type with a big beard and a raspy voice. Biggest hit was Trouble.

Miss Muse

Isn’t he the Iron & Wine guy? I never understood his appeal, either.

The Once and Future Bagel Bruin

No, that’s another beardy douchebag!

I’m not surprised. I’d argue his following is a touch more cult-ish than mainstream. I only know of him because 92.5 used to play his stuff quite a bit.

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong in that guess.

“Trouble” made quite an impact over here when it came out (about 2009). Haven’t heard from him recently

Here, too.

Although I’d argue most people know the song from a dumb insurance commercial involving a dog and a bone (Travelers, maybe?)

I’m glad that ‘gansett came back (even though it probably isn’t much like the 70’s/80’s ‘gansett). I find that I really like their craft beer offerings (Yes, I’m kind of a beer snob)

the german hammer
Admin

I don’t like ‘Gansett Lager at all. I’ll drink it if I have to. But, the craft offerings are primo!

The Once and Future Bagel Bruin

I’ve only had two of their craft offerings: the Shady and the Brown Ale. I hate most brown ales, and this one was no different. The good beer store one big town over offers a lot of ‘Gansetts better brews. I just need to go there before hockey one day.

The main reason why I love Narragansett so much because it connects me with the Massachusetts raising I sometimes wish I had.

I think I got the brown ale for IW (I can’t drink them; reaction) and I think he didn’t like it. But, we’ve gotten most. The Del’s Shandy is my fave, followed by the CMS. The Del’s Shandy is offered on tap at the Horseshoe Pub in Hudson in the summer and it is sublime.

‘Gansett is a solid cheap-ish beer choice. Nothing more, nothing less. Better than many other cheap options.

And yes, the seasonal stuff is great.

Love me some alt country.

Son Volt, the Jayhawks, Old 97s (seen them 10 times), Slobberbone, the Bottle Rockets, Ryan Adams and Wilco (when they feels like it). Love ’em all.

Miss Muse

I LOVE Ryan Adams. I think his tickets are a little expensive for me this time around, though. sad

How many packs a day do you think that guy smokes to have that voice?

Satan 81's Sister

I’m guessing 3 1/2 packs plus a few gallons of whiskey.

Morning all. This week is kicking my ass for some reason. One more day of work than big plans to do absolutely nothing on Sunday.

Mornin’ all,

So. Anyone see the Habs score last night? Bwahahahahaha! Maybe I should go easy – pride comes before a fall and we play the Flames next week. But still. Bwahahaha

Oooh, what’s with all the slagging off Chara? He got two assists in that last game y’know.

Pancakes – sweet: lemon and sugar. Savoury – Prawn cocktail. I think English pancakes have a slightly different recipe than yours. There’s a cafe in our village run by a guy from San Francisco and he does really good breakfast pancakes – bacon and maple syrup. mmm good.

Tomorrow I have an early start as I’m going kart racing! The first race in a nine-round championship. I’m aiming to not finish last. Some rain would help…

How is everyone?

When it’s slippery I seem to cope better than most. Must be the extra weight keeping the tyres on the road!

Happy Friday!

-My wife had to work a rare day shift today. She was NOT happy to wake up at the same time I do every day (5:30a). I just laughed.
-Work finally seems to be stabilizing again. It’s been a long 2 months, but our big customer appears to be backing off a bit. It’s made this week a lot better.
-That said, I’ve been in for an hour already and accomplished nothing.
-Pizza with friends tonight (my friend has an insane outdoor pizza oven and I will never turn down that offer).

Anyone got good plans for the weekend?

That said, I’ve been in for an hour already and accomplished nothing.

I’ve now been in for 2.5 hours & I’ve spent all of it administering someone’s aseptic technique qualification. Which basically means sitting around watching someone else do stuff & telling them when they’re doing it wrong.

Ooh that’s rough. Good practice though for the near future – your addition must be due soon, no?

I’d love one of those pizza ovens.

It’s not THAT early.

Mid- to late-May. Technically the due date is the 21st or 24th (depending on who you ask), but I generally figure you’ve got about a 3 week window revolving around that date.

After the baby’s born, you’ll both be nostalgic for the “good old days” of being able to sleep in until 5:30am!

The London Bear
Member

Ah, you’ve still got a little while then. That sounds like a good time to be born – warm enough that you can take the baby out in the pram but not too hot.

My little ‘un turned up exactly on her due date – but only 50mins into it! I wish you all the best

Good Morning, pals!
Chara as food – a tall bottle of wine. That bottle has matured and needs to emptied and recycled. It’s starting to turn to vinegar!!!
It’s snowing. And now it’s going to be cold again.
Jo just left for Miami (granddaughter’s 1st bday). I was going to go up north and work on the house, but the forecast! I should have gone to Miami!!
Shoveling on tap!!

You should have gone to Miami. Happy Birthday to Jo’s little granddaughter.
