Morning Free Association: March 21

I could go into a true recap here but I won’t. Truth is, I was home only for the third period and I was in such a bad mood from a crummy day, I didn’t really feel like watching.

It was a closer game for 57 minutes (albeit with poor officiating) than the final score indicated. Three goals within 1:06,(1 a PPG from a dubious Dominic Moore penalty, 2 empty net goals) will tend to fuck with your chances of winning. Moore netted one within a minute left to play but it wasn’t enough.

You know what? Just let it rip this morning. Go to town. Get it out of your system because tonight the Sens are in town.

God dammit that loss hurt.

16 more days until my Spring Break. I will vacationing in Madison, WI. That’s where all the cool kids go. My best friend and one of my closest cousins live there. After Spring Break, I have three weeks of class before I start summer session. WOOO!

Ugh, I think last night’s loss made me totally lose interest in hockey for the next little while.

understood, and i hate to blame refs for losses…but that game was very very poorly officiated and pretty much blame the reffing for that loss.

Toronto should have never been put on a matching for that Bergy boarding, if you are going to let things like crosschecks to the face slide and roughing and other iffy things go then calling Bergy for a 2:00 (which it deserved on a normal night) after getting a horrible and dangerous hit from behind (ive seen 5 min penality for less) then you dont call that retaliation in the middle of a scrum a 2:00. If it was officiated well it should have been a 2:00 on bergy and a 5 min on shithead.

That roughing to Pasta at the net was beyond “allowable, play on” material.

There were so many missed penalties…and there was no idea on where the line was for “allowable play” if you let that much shit go on during the entire game you sure as hell dont call that moore penalty.

The refs totally ruined any momentum gained when it mattered most.

I guess my point is..yeah it was a hard loss due to standings, but much of this loss was due to non-team factors.

If you’re demoralized, then tonight might be a good game to miss ‘cuz, well…

Or maybe last night’s debacle has lured the Tootsies into a false sense of security and the Bruins will take advantage and DESTROY THEM!

Pasta and Dobby are definitely loopy straws.

Mornin’.

Well, that didn’t go according to plan did it?

Watched the first period and a half live then went to bed. It looks like they’ve started enforcing the 48-hour blackouts, so had to go for the highlights for the rest of it.

Hmmm. I’m generally a fan of the coaching change but the two most important games under Cassidy have now been lost (OTT being the other). That doesn’t bode well for the playoffs, which are now not looking as certain as they did this time yesterday. Hmm.

Also, there doesn’t seem much point pulling the goalie the way they’re playing. I think IW mentioned this in the game thread, and he’s dead right.

I have maximum pessimism for tonight’s game (what’s the opposite of bloptimism?). Second half of a back-to-back against a team who, we probably have to admit, are better than Boston. Oh well.

I have a rare day working from home today, and I am rather enjoying it! It’s the big week of motorsport previews (Formula one and Motorbikes), so loads of stats to put together, stories to research and write, betting tips to come up with. All good stuff!

I’m going to take the bloptomistic tack on this game & expect a rebound. Tonight’s game is at the Garden & the Bs have played well at home since Butch Cassidy took the reins (7-1-0). This was also their first time losing 2 straight under Cassidy, so they should be looking for some redemption.

Hope you’re right!

Yeah, I picked up on the fact it was the first time losing two straight. They did, at least, play rather better than in the Edmonton game, from what I saw.

  • I hate when people say this, but we kind of got dicked by the refs last night.
  • My oatmeal is bland and flavorless.
  • Speaking of bland and flavorless, we’re playing the Sens tonight. Hopefully the B’s can actually take this one. Super important game.
  • Fucking imperative that they win tonight. IMPERATIVE.
  • Beleskey is looking better but I’m still less than impressed. He’s just having a rough year all together.
  • Drew Stafford was a great pickup.
  • I’d like to reiterate that they did a garbage job of officiating last night.

    – refs were fucking aweful. Horrible no good very bad ref.
    – Why do the bruins playoffs always always hinge on Ott. for the last ….near…past.
    – Beleskey has been ehh…but hes working on a puck to the head per game…i still have a feeling he is still getting up to speed with the knee injury, not everyone is welker!
    – Stafford has been a nice addition!

    Good Morning, pals!,
Got called in to ref two last night, so missed the debacle last night. Knee was not great in the second half of the second game. Two more tonight, so time to suck it up.
    I’m tired – nap time!

    Well that sucks last night.

I turned the game on with 2ish minutes or so to go, and promptly watched them lose, so feel free to blame me for the loss.
