Morning Free Association: New Coach in Town

The Boston Bruins have rounded out their coaching staff by promoting Kevin Dean from the Providence Bruins to be an assistant to Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy. Dean had spent five years as an assistant coach with the AHL affiliate before becoming the head coach this past season. His first campaign was a success as the P-Bruins made it as far as the Conference Final for the Calder Cup.

Dean seems to be excited to be reunited with Cassidy and coaching alongside Jay Pandolfo and Joe Sacco, but not for the reason you think.

Yes, Dean, like Cassidy, played a pivotal role in developing talent that would, in the best circumstances, move on to the big club. He’s still invested in the youth and believes that this will lead to great things. This should make everyone very excited.
