Morning Free Association: New Coach in Town

The Boston Bruins have rounded out their coaching staff by promoting Kevin Dean from the Providence Bruins to be an assistant to Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy. Dean had spent five years as an assistant coach with the AHL affiliate before becoming the head coach this past season. His first campaign was a success as the P-Bruins made it as far as the Conference Final for the Calder Cup.

Dean seems to be excited to be reunited with Cassidy and coaching alongside Jay Pandolfo and Joe Sacco, but not for the reason you think.

Yes, Dean, like Cassidy, played a pivotal role in developing talent that would, in the best circumstances, move on to the big club. He’s still invested in the youth and believes that this will lead to great things. This should make everyone very excited.

Morning, pals!

  • A little late here, had a 9:30 interview, so I’m just catching up to doing important things like shooting the shit with hockey pals.
  • Skating guy really worked me last night. Outside edge work, which I badly need to focus on so I can do other things like I used to do before I became a big useless pile of whatever. He’s insisting I am a power forward. He is correct, obviously.

  • Speaking of power forwards, he and I had an in-depth conversation about the differences in the games of Neely and Lucic. We see eye to eye on this matter, which is nice.
  • Expansion draft stuff – maybe this is of interest to some people?

  • I’m more than a little excited to see Shipachyov play. I’m all about Russian talent. #zanySlavs
  • The office finally put the patio together. I’m very excited.
  • My hockey plan is that I do instructional hockey for the fall season (summer season ends 8/20). I’ll likely join two programs so I can get two nights of ice time each week (and this program is pretty inexpensive)… then in January I’ll join the HNA instructional league, which is way cool because when you finish the instructional portion, they split you up into teams and you play an 8 game season. After that, the instructional league team is added to the D league the following season. So, I think I’m gonna do that.
  • I started typing this at like 10:15 but kept getting interrupted.

    good morning, pals.
Autofotch wanted to make good morning, too poor morning – I can relate to that.
Nice, easy double last night. Good fun.
Heading up to the land time forgot soon. I have a couple chores to do.
Can we just start next season already? That’s what beer leagues do.

Damnit. This article really didn’t want to publish.
And when I went on my morning ‘he let’s just check in on the site’, I got sucked into laptop issues, then news – which was full of NOPE I might add.
