Today I want to focus on other things. Yesterday I said all I need to say about the large , dark cloud looming over Bruins’ fans’ picnic. We’re just going to say this and move on:
For hockey is on the horizon.

Is the team invigorated by the coaching change of last season with players, young and old, hitting the ice early to work together to build chemistry? Maybe. This group is skewing very young, so it’s a good bet that those vying roster spots work on skills with their fellow players (and possibly linemates).
Yesterday was the first day that Zdeno Chara, David Backes, Brad Marchand, and Davd Krejci hit the ice. I’m pretty sure all of these guys will make the team.

Just when you thought this rule couldn’t get any worse …
Actually, this sounds like the rule they were trying to make. Bench penalty for failed challenge of offside. Of course, the offside rule should be modified to account for either a certain amount or shots taken between the zone entry and a goal (if scored).
It could have a positive effect, but I’ve seen plenty that looked clearly offside but weren’t called even after review. If that happens now you go down a goal AND have to take a penalty!

So, I’m gonna be in Stockholm in November for a music festival. It’ll be my third trip to Sweden and I’m gonna make sure I finally see a hockey game over there. Best option given my schedule appears to be a game in Linköping. I checked hotels in the area, and found this:

Morning all. I’ve been cellphoneless since Monday. Should finally have a new one this evening. Been really weird not to have one.
Wyshynski did his ranking of Cup contenders, and his take on the Bruins is surprisingly fair:

I read that yesterday and…yeah. I pretty much agree.
That actually sums up how I’m feeling about this season.
Another one bigging up the Lightning …
I have a confession. I’ve been recording SCOC’s signs with an RCA CMR-300 I found in my parent’s basement.
Hey! Don’t tape over that copy of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Hockey!
