By now every Boston Bruins fan knows that David Backes is out for at least 8 weeks after his surgery to remove part of his colon (that surgery will happen to today). Of course this will fuel the fans that already hated the signing and possibly Backes as a player. But we’re not going to discuss that. Instead, we’re going to turn to the next man up.
Yesterday, long-time AHL counterman, Jordan Szwarz was recalled by the big club. He’s been playing well in Providence during this young season and with injuries to the 3 centers, he’s earned the call-up.
Asked Jay Leach on Mon. who played well on weekend road trip. First words out of his mouth: 'Jordan Szwarz was excellent'

Too bad Bs don't make assistant coaches available to media so Kevin Dean could talk about how good Szwarz was last season in Prov

As beat writer for the Providence Bruins for the The Providence Journal, Mark Divver probably knows better than most about Jordan Szwarz and his play. Originally signed to a PTO in Providence last season, he’s worked hard to become a two-way player and back to the game on the NHL ice.
“I’m going to push myself as far as I can go every day. I want to get back in the NHL. That’s obviously what everyone wants to do down in this league. I’m going to do whatever it takes every day to get back there, doesn’t matter how old I am,” Szwarz said.
…
“I was still at a young stage in my career. I didn’t exactly have the offensive instincts that I have now. Each year that goes by, you learn more and more about the game. I think those offensive instincts are really starting to come out in my game in the last two years now,” he said.
The line of Danton Heinen, Szwarz and Austin Czarnik carried the P-Bruins last weekend. “It’s always easy playing with guys like that, good playmakers. I just want to go in and get them the puck, let them do their thing and good things happen,” said Szwarz.
Along with Szwarz, Zane McIntyre was recalled as well. Presumably he’ll back up Tuukka tonight when the Vegas Golden Knights play their first ever game at the TD Garden. Maybe not all is well with Dobby after all.
I looked at the projected lines for tonight.
Egads, it’s practically post-apocalytic.
Eek, I got signed out again. That keeps happening. That mysterious mustachioed stranger is one handsome devil though.
Tonight’s backup goaltender – Humongous

And of course as 4th line center a morlock.
Hey Pals!
Added Chiller to my fantasy team. This will prevent him from having an impact on tonight’s game.
No triathlon yesterday – just a 9:30 start time to my game.I must have been in Colorado or suntin’.
Go Bruins!!! Hoping to watch tonight (I like to watch!).
Coffee!!!!
“Added Chiller to my fantasy team. This will prevent him from having an impact on tonight’s game.”
Joe’s taking one for the team!
Wasn’t the general thinking at the start of the season that Chiller wouldn’t make the line-up? He’s got 8 points in 11 games!
Yay for free cupcakes. There’s dinner sorted.
Morning all. Crawling towards the finish line. Saturday afternoon can’t get here soon enough.

Morning, peeps!
Hope the Bs put on a good show for you. Better than they did in Vegas at least!
The spare me gif is wonderful. Never ceases to amuse me when people think they know more than doctors, GMs. etc. Uh, if you know more than them then why aren’t you a doctor?
Are you talking about how we nailed this on Bearly on Topic in episode 302? Honestly, I looked up treatment regimens and it seemed like his coming back in 2 weeks was highly unrealistic. Turns out it was because he must have been presenting with symptoms enough to merit surgery. And I do believe that under the right formative experiences (which I did not have), I would have grown up to become an MD; I just would have gone to the pathology side because live things have too much blood moving through them.
No, I don’t think I got that far into the episode. I keep reading it on Twitter and such. It just seems like hockey twitter all think they’re doctors all the time.
Hockey Twitter is the land of Know-It-Alls. Actually all Sports Twitter is. Actually all Twitter is.
Twitter is legit the worst.
Apparently, some people think that being an asshole qualifies them as a colon specialist. It doesn’t.
Also, they originally said it was 2-4 weeks and he came back in 2.
That seems like it’s within the window to me.
Yeah, it’s in the window but I still feel like he pushed to come back and should’ve taken his time.
I seriously thought about a career in forensic pathology. I don’t have a problem with the blood – it’s just that the dead people don’t say stupid stuff. I went into microbiology instead – bacteria don’t say stupid stuff either & the student loans weren’t as bad.
This was much my thinking. I considered pathology because bits of tissue don’t complain about random symptoms or not getting jello instead of ice cream for dessert. I ended up in computing for much the same reasons (though the pay isn’t nearly as good).
What makes that different than most human interactions every day?
Live people say A LOT of stupid stuff.
Hahahahaha I love this. Except the student loan part.
Guess who’s back, bitches!!!!

Yeah, baby … ITS CHILLER TIME!

That reminds me: he was the poster boy for that B’s game in Vegas. Also, at the games in Vegas they give out inflatable swords and shields. We have 2 sets.
inflatable shields and swords are awesome! I am sad we don’t hve Chiller but I’m mad about how mad people were. Conflicted!
People’s overreaction to losing Colin Miller to the Knights made me want to never hear the name Colin Miller again.
Exactly!
I’m absolutely blank on it. I just didn’t care enough about Colin Miller.
My cat chewed on my sword before I even had a chance to inflate it. She REALLY likes plastic. Meh.
I’m guessing this is Muse?
Morning all,
remember there’s two sides to every Szwarz!

VGK’s good start was fun they’re on a bit of a wobble. Hopefully Bs can take advantage. 11pm start for me, which counts as sociable hours for the British-based follower of US sport!
My darts team got back on the win trail last night! We’re now 3-1 in our debut season. One of my teammates managed to forget his shoes in the pub. We noticed and took them with us to another pub. Where we then forgot them ourselves!
Coffee time
Good morning! How does one forget their shoes? I’m confused and maybe thought you were bowling and then I reread it, and no, definitely darts.
Ha! He changed from his office shoes into trainers to play. The saga of Dave’s shoes is the talk of the office this morning!
Haha, that makes a lot more sense! And that”s spectacular!
And here I was wondering if he just liked playing darts barefoot!
I feel like that could be a painful experience if your teammates are particularly bad.
Ha!
A couple of weeks ago the pub cat was asleep in a corner near the dartboard and the barman made us move him before we played. I was thinking “come on, we’re not THAT bad!”
hahahaha

When looking for scared cat gifs, I found this and am now like, WTF?
http://i.imgur.com/OujBRKz.gif
That’s something else! I don’t know who is braver – the cat or the cameraman.
He’s the Tony Franklin of darts!
VGK being down to their fourth-string goalie should help the Bs’ cause a bit. Fleury, Subban & Dansk are all on IR, so they’ll have undrafted 24-year old Maxime Lagace between the pipes. I imagine they’re now wishing they’d kept
Jean-LucCalvin Pickard instead of poaching Malcolm from us & trading CP to Toronto.Dansk is down as well?? That’s unbelievable bad luck
