Morning Free Association: Oil Slick

Well, it was to good to last. The Bruins finally fell to the Oilers 4-2 after winning four games in a row. It’s not much of a surprise since the Oil are on a trend to defeat the B’s at the Garden in the past couple of seasons.

In the loss, David Pastrnak and David Krejci scored in the first and second periods, respectively. Tuukka Rask, playing in his first game in almost two weeks and looked good for the most part but a bit rusty. The Oilers maintained a 3-2 lead from the beginning of the third period until Boston pulled Tuukka in favor of the extra skater, which resulted in an empty net goal by Leon Draisaitl.

The Bruins next take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in Boston on Wednesday. And it’s a Rivalry Night game on NBCSNOMGWTFBBQ so make sure you get your rivalry night gear out for that!

A friend came up with a great party idea: the Samosa Samoa Mimosa Mamoa party.

It’s a champagne brunch with Indian food and everyone dresses up as Khal Drogo or Aquaman.

  • Hoping everyone had a good thanksgiving. As for Adam, I hope you had a nice Thursday in England. wink
  • Having a hell of a time getting ready to go this morning. Blah.
  • Went to the Black Friday matinee – thanks Ben – and at the Four’s afterward, a couple friends and I shot the shit with Joey Mac and Brick for a while. The two of them were a riot.
  • Very disappointed in last night’s game. Edmonton, seriously? I know you can’t win them all, but you should win the ones you should win.
  • Krug was brutal. Pastrnak was good, among others… but not enough others.
  • Why can’t they play in front of Tuukka?
  • Three coworkers volunteered me to do an indoor cycling relay with them. It’s in March. I’ve never taken a spin class. I got caught in traffic on my way to the intro to spin on Saturday so now I have to go to a regular class and fly by the seat for my pants. Oh well!
  • Hitting the outdoor rink in JP after work today. I’m thinking I can do that most weekdays since it’s open til 7:30 each night. Hopefully the cold (and not wet) weather holds up.

If the weather holds up, I am definitely going to be there tonight. If it doesn’t… I don’t think there’s any after work skating hours til tomorrow.

Why thank you! It was a pretty normal one, as I recall …

Why can’t they play in front of Tuukka?

It’s very odd. Remember early last season when Tuukka and Dobby were injured and they couldn’t play in front of the kids? I wonder if they tense up or take an extra half a second to think about things when they don’t have full confidence in the goalie.

Good luck with the spinning and skating!
