That game last night was for the highly caffeinated and easily amused. It was not an interesting game. Well, not until the end.
First Period:
Absolutely nothing happened. The B’s had a low shot total. The arena was at best quarter-filled supposedly because people were preferring to watch the game on one of the screens in the restaurants within the arena, as the broadcast crew would have you believe. Right, that’s it. It had nothing to do with the snowstorm.
Actually, watch the best part of the broadcast, instead. We tried to watch it but our girl Vegas decided to bark angrily at the dog barking at her in the window (it was her).

Second Period:
At 9:02, Patrice Bergeron was called for Tripping. The replay showed that he had been tripped up by Frans Nielsen by Bergy made the mistake of reaching out his stick to trip him in retaliation. It didn’t take long for the Wings to score, 13 seconds in fact. Detroit takes the lead 1-0.
The ice had been shitty all night with repairs being made at the beginning of the first, midway and three-quarters through the second. Fix your ice problems, Pizza Box.
Third Period:
Why Sean Kuraly had to be from elsewhere, I’ll never know. He’s the only holdup in naming that Bruins fourth line the New England line, with Tim Schaller hailing from New Hampshire and Noel Acciari being the Pride of Rhode Island™. Anyway, that fourth line scrapped in front of the Wings net and Noel Acciari lifted the puck over Jimmy Howard’s pads to tie up the game.

David Pastrnak gets hauled down ugly by Mike Green. On the power play, there were plenty of triangles and passes and a couple of shots until Dylan Larkin managed to get an errant puck, speeding down the ice for a short-handed goal. Detroit, 2-1.

Cassidy pulled Tuukka with over 2 minutes to go. David Pastrnak sniped the tying goal.

Overtime:
It didn’t take long. Brad Marchand went from end to end with the puck, shooting up under the crossbar and over the line while wearing Mike Green. This took a whole 35 seconds.

I love Brad, you love Brad, we all love Brad.
Hey Pals!
Got two girls games in this morn. Knee bent but didn’t break. – cautiously optimistic!!
Coming up for air. Beleskey is on waivers. Biggest question is who does the pie tradition next year. I’m going with Miller.
Back to the shit ton of work. And my boss just got back from meetings which now means even more work for me.
Hockey twitter explosion in 3… 2… 1….
Hey, hockey pals!
PK Subban scored on a shot from the Dennis Seidenberg Memorial Center Red Line.

While I love seeing the ‘Nucks get embarrassed, I wish it had been someone else. To me, PK still has Habs-stink on him. The only thing that removes it is putting on a Bruins sweater.
Morning all. Still can’t believe that Marchand goal.
Two things amaze me about that goal:
– Marchand’s shot.
– Mike Green’s impressive combination of hustle and defensive ineptitude. Watch this goal again. The 2-on-1 starts and Green commits to challenging Krug in the neutral zone. Krug flips the pass over to Marchand for a breakaway. Green hustles all the way back to check Marchand, attempts a weak stick lift, then watches Marchand score.

It took me a long time to tumble this through my brain but I figured out what to get my Secret Santa giftee. I think that person will be pleased. Or they already have it and they’ll have two.
After last night’s surprise win, I am hopeful about tonight.
Well that wasn’t the Bs at their best, but the got it done in the end and are 2 points further ahead of the Habs!
Maybe the guys were saving themselves for tonight. WAS are in decent firm but have lost four of their last five on the road so there’s reasons to be hopeful. I think Oshie is out, also.
Btw, has anyone else had issues with this site being extremely slow to load up?
IW performed an update last week and it has been slower since then. It’s not his fault though, I just think the code is especially cumbersome. Eh, we do the best that we can.
The adverts embedded in the Getty images have murdered our site load times. I’m (slowly) working on an alternative.
I didn’t mean that to sound like a complaint – you guys do a great job!
At least they didn’t give up and got the win! They’re not all going to be pretty but a win is a win and I’ll take it.
The site is fine on desktop or laptop for me. Slow to load on my tablet.
Oh absolutely. In soccer that say that what separates the great teams from the rest is they manage to find a way to win even when not on top form. That was the Bs last night!
I suppose it’s too much to hope that they’ll put Grubauer* in net tonight? Holtby really seems to have had our number the past few seasons.
At least they can actually score on Holtby these days! It’s getting better.
