Morning Free Association: Quota Plus One

If you were watching last night you saw the Bruins give a clinic on scoring. It didn’t help that Sergei Bobrovsky didn’t look to be on his game. Prior to the game Jack Edwards had described his last eight outings as his looking human.

Instead of a normal recap, let’s just watch the highlight reel spliced with the implosion of the Columbus Blue Jackets Twitter account.

Seven goals were scored by:

Brad Marchand

David Backes (PPG)

Charlie McAvoy (PPG)

Danton Heinen (from Backes and McAvoy, this is important)

Torey Krug

Patrice Bergeron

Jake DeBrusk

And Chuck got his first ever fighting major. That combined with his goal and assist gave him a Gordie Howe Hat Trick, yet another first for him and the first for a Bruins player since 2013 (Zdeno Chara).

Hopefully, the Bruins can continue the magic tonight in Buffalo.

Charlie got a lil steamed up!!! That’s a great first fight! I love the under, over approach! Especially as DuBois looks to have a bit of reach on him (if I’m reading the tale of the tape properly).

I was surprised McAvoy is 6ft. Thought he was a little guy – He’s taller than me!

McAvoy looks small compared to Z, Carlo, Quaider….
DuPuis 6’4″, probably longer arms unless he has t Rex or alligator syndrome. smile

So, Bs are four points behind the Leafs with three games in hand. Next three opponents: BUF, WPG, DET. Good chance to go 2nd in the division!

At the very least, getting more separation from the bottom half of the pack is big.

And they’re FIVE points AHEAD of the HabNots with 2 games in hand!

I love the forward depth on this team right now. The 2nd line currently needs Krejci back, but we’ve got 3 lines that can score and a line that can force an offensive zone faceoff. There’s not a real soft spot other than the power play if one of the defensively skilled players isn’t on the roster.

Morning all,

Good confidence booster for everyone last night. Good to see them keep the pressure on and not rest on the lead.

CBJ started to look lively after their goal went in, with some telepathic plays but the fourth goal seemed to kill their enthusiasm. Jackets fans probably wouldn’t be happy with their effort but Bs can only ̶b̶e̶a̶t̶ thrash what’s put in front of them!

thought I had picked the perfect day to add Heinen to my Fantasy team, but his stats don’t apply until tonight. D’oh!. Ah well, he’s just have to do the same tonight!

I would just like to point out that DeBrusk’s goal was filthy rotten, and that I absolutely love him. Also, Chrles in Charge, Grizz, and Heiney. Happy.

Charlie, DeBrusk, and Heiney all making an early case for 7th player award.

That PP goal – on the ice: Bergy, Griz, Chahlie, DeBrusk, Heinen – and they were brilliant!
