Morning Free Association: Boxing Day Edition

White Christmases are overrated in my book especially when that entails cleanup of 3-5 inches of the cold, wet, slippery stuff and a short driveway of death. How was your holiday?

Some Bruins players shared their holiday traditions on video. What is this tradition of decorating the tree on Christmas Eve? Fish soup? Patience? What?

Did you see the Christmas present Tuukka Rask got?

Of course, he’s totally earned it with excellent performances but it is always nice to have someone notice.

The holiday break is ending and games will resume tomorrow night.

Hey, we get to see some of the prospects play starting this afternoon in juniors competition.
I am curious to see Urho Vakkalakkaleinen just because I fear having to learn how to spell his name.

Morning all. Hope you all had a nice Christmas. Mentally prepping for the deep freeze. Today is the last day of double digit temperatures for a while. Well. there will be double digit temps at night but they will be in the minus range.

And a special thank you to my Secret Santa! Polska for the win!

Morning!

Hope everyone had a lovely relaxing day, or exciting day if that’s what you were after! No white Xmas in London – it was a mild and wet Xmas, as usual. Ah well.

My main presents were that Mrs Bear paid for my best guitar to have a service (it’s nearly 30 years old) and I got a better quality harmonica, which is much louder than my old one. Poor neighbours….

Working from home today. Just had a break for a game of Twister. I won’t be rushing back for a second game!

Haha! I’m with you there. Tweaked my back shoveling yesterday morning (twas a white Christmas in Vermont!) and it’s still achy. Getting old is no fun.

Hah! I spent all Sunday morning scraping ice off my driveway, then had to spend much of Xmas digging out snow until my back shrunk into a pretzel shape. I’m done with winter clean-up. All ready for Spring now. *checks wristwatch*

My M.O. Sunday was USE ALL THE SALT!
(And then spent a few minutes on the porch listing to it crackle and giggling to myself because I am easily amused.)

I can’t even imagine what that driveway is like in the winter.

Morning, pals!

  • I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa was good to you!
  • Santa was WAY too good to me, and I’m definitely going to set the Switch up and play my new Mario game tonight. Super excited! Nerd.
  • I have to work today and have very little desire to actually go. So, I compromised with myself and am planning to get there for 10:00. We’ll see about that!
  • I wasn’t home all weekend (family), so I don’t know if I’ve received my secret Santa gift – I don’t want anyone to think I’m ungrateful and just haven’t thanked them!
  • I have a ticket to the Sens game tomorrow and am not interested. I really need to recharge. $55 if you want it.

Jeez, it must be bad to want to pass up the opportunity of seeing McAvoy and Karlsson on the same ice!

I hear you. The best Christmas present was having two days off and not thinking about work.

    Hey Pals!!
We’re wrapping up our stay in Newport. The moms are great together and the rest of my family was bearable (barely). I’m ready to go home even though snow clean up.
All Star gift giver Jo-Ann gave me a Vincent coffee mug to remind me of the Loving Vincent movie. When you put a hot beverage in it…. Wait for it….. a bandage appears over the infamous ear. Tremendous!
I’m missing hockey. We’ll make up for that soon.

    Happy St Stephen’s Day!!!

We sell our newspaper in Ireland as well as GB, and all mentions of “Boxing Day” have to be changed to “St Stephen’s Day” in the edition sent for print in Ireland. It’s a right pain in the ass!

    This is fantastic!
