Morning Free Association: Oil Spill

Last night in Edmonton, the Bruins proved that they can indeed come back from a two-goal deficit. While the Oilers owned the first two periods, that Boston team we all know and love took possession of the game in the third and never gave it back.

First let’s take a look at who was at the game last night. Jake DeBrusk is from Edmonton, Alberta as his father is a former Oiler and former analyst for the Oilers on SportsNet. So, of course, young Jake has family in the area.

Then there was this musclebound guy.

How he is sitting that close to the ice with that skimpy shirt, I’ll never know. I guess he’s extremely warm blooded.

While Anton Khudobin did let in two goals from Ryan Strome and Jujhar Khaira, he made beautiful, athletic saves like this on Connor McDavid.

Down 2-0 in the third, Noel Acciari worked hard for this score, shooting wide, catching his rebound, going around the net, and bouncing it off an Oilers player.

Some seven minutes later, Matt Grzelcyk netted his second goal on the season to tie up the game.

With under two minutes to go, David Krejci sealed the game with his eleventh goal on the season and his first since February 6th.

The Bruins wrap up the Western Canada Roadtrip with 4/6 points winning all of their games in the province of Alberta.

Next up: the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Saturday night followed by the Sabres in Buffalo less than 24 hours later.

ugh.
Take care of her!
I had a night of pneumonia symptoms last year (fever, chills, etc.) during a drawn out cold/flu illness. It sucked.
If it had lasted longer than the one night, or breathing had been difficult, I probably would have checked myself into the hospital.

Hey hockey pals!

  • Another crazy morning here. Some day soon it’ll slow down a little. Maybe.
  • I feel like my skating is going backwards. Not like skating backwards, just not getting better. I think it’s because I’m a fucking weenie.
  • IT’S WARM, GUYS
  • That Acciari goal was nice. That Grzelcyk goal was nice. That Krejci goal was nice. I’m glad we beat a bad team last night. Sometimes we let them get away with one.
  • I can’t believe I’m saying this: The Habs are so bad that I had to drop Carey Price from my fantasy team in favor of Luongo.

  • This reminds me: Sis, HOW have you not watched Seinfeld? It’s right up your alley IMO.

It was awesome seeing Chara completely erase Connor McDavid.
The guy still managed 2 shots on goal, but he was kept to the outside, his time of posession was short and in general just wasn’t creating offense at all. The only Oiler who took shots was “unknown Punjabi #2”!

    Hiya,

just watched the highlights – anyone who stayed up for the whole game was rewarded!

The Bs 3rd period goal differential is unreal, +30, which I’m not sure whether that includes last night’s result.

Reminds me of the 2015 Bruins – there was a stretch of that season where if they went into the third period level or a goal down you knew they were going to get something out of the game.

No game till Saturday? They’ve already got games in hand on most teams. I guess it’s going to be a busy end to the season for them…

I watched Team USA lose to the Czech Republic last night, then I couldn’t go straight to bed. Before I knew it, it was 2:00. Having a rough time now.
