In the season series finale against the hated Habs, Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy went down hard on his knee 35 seconds in, leaving the game. Bruins fans were notified that he had a lower body injury and that he wouldn’t return to the game.
Update: Charlie McAvoy has a lower-body injury and is not likely to return.

But what happened to him? What is the injury?
There is no information. None. No one os talking about it. Is it anything big or will he be back? I have no clue.
In the meantime, we can discuss how maybe Claude Julien was the problem all along with regards to the Bruins getting penalties called against rather than for.
“I think it’s pretty obvious. When your best shooter is on a breakaway and doesn’t get a shot away, I think everybody agrees that it should have been a penalty shot,” Julien began. “What’s embarrassing is Nash embellishing it. The stick hits his shoulder, it doesn’t even hit his face and he embellishes and looks at the referee. Those are embarrassing things in the game of hockey.
“We’re a tired team and we have to kill penalties and it eventually caught up to us. That’s disappointing that when we had some of those things happen, or another penalty that’s called five seconds later because we end up on a two-on-one. As I said, we evaluate ourselves and we expect others to evaluate themselves as well.”
Aw, that’s just TFB, Claude. I just can’t feel bad for you because you coach the Canadiens. That sucks for you, dude.
Anyway, if we get any info on Charlie, we’ll share it here.
Happy Casimir Pulaski day!
I’m not freaking out about Chuck’s injury yet. I’ll wait until the end of the first business day afterwards to panic.
So glad the heat is finally back to normal at work. They got the AC fixed late on Thurs, and then on Friday it was too cold all day. But after such a long stretch of sweltering discomfort, no one wanted to complain.
Considering the fact that there should have been at least two 5 on 3 penalties in the game…you win some and lose some…just be lucky the refs didnt call the blatant trip when you were already on the PK.
I agree penalty shot was prolly deserved, but it wasn’t the difference in the game. The bruins were the better team all night and it felt like one of those games where the bruins would spend a full 5 min in the other zone and one breakaway in the opposite direction and the bruins still lose even after putting 50 shots on net….im glad they won it.
The game was super annoying. Shoot just wide or hit the post 23453264357364657 times. AHHHHHH
Agreed.
Folks were saying the TD Garden was dealing with super humid conditions. Maybe the ice was a bit crappy? They weren’t so crisp on passes, either.
Never got a good look at the penalty shot candidate, but if Jack & Brick were saying it probably should have been a penalty shot for the other guys, I’ll agree.
However, as much as Claude complained, his boys committed Every. Single. One. of the penalties they got whistled for & then some.
They were putting sticks on skates all over the place, and the Nash ’embellishment’ was highlighting something that should have drawn a whistle anyway.
There was a bit of drama about the trip that led to Chuck’s boo-boo. Bruins fans were whining “look how Gallagher hacks at Charlie’s skates!” and Habs fans were whining “Chara totally elbows Gallagher!”. For a routine shoving match with a routine inadvertent-seeming trip, there sure was a lot of hand-wringing & finger-pointing.
Yes, the Habs were very trippy on Saturday.
There was a blatant one on Krejci that went uncalled in the neutral zone when we were on the PP in the third, I believe. Grrr.
yeah, late 3rd on the PP there was a blatant trip coming out of their own zone. couldn’t remember who it was on but sounds like we are thinking of the same one.
I was at the game and I was very surprised it wasn’t a penalty shot. It was a clear breakaway and yet they called a slash. *shrug*
I made pineapple coconut banana bread last night and, yes…. it’s fucking fantastic!!!!
sounds yummy.
Yum! Piña Colada Banana Bread!
Trying to hook up with an old hockey buddy for Rags at Panthers Saturday night!!!
That’ll be fun!
Hey hockey pals!
I was really disappointed when I went to watch the Bruins game yesterday and confused the days and had actually been looking at next Saturday’s schedule.
You’ve been studying my playbook. This might be my signature move!
Good choice of number! hope you have fun. And get well soon.
When you say you “went to watch the game” I hope you mean you switched the TV on, rather than going to the Garden!
That is an excellent number choice! When the Gionta signing happened, I was wishing they would have taken a shot at Jags. Gionta has been good, though. Happy to see him succeed.
Hi Pals!
Missed Saturday’s game to be on the river. God! I love winter paddling! There’s nothing else like it.
Please, nothing major on Chuck! There are a lot of key pieces on this team, but his twenty something first pair minutes are pretty tough to replace. I have liked Carlo’s reaction to sitting a game, though. He’s increased his intensity. I still feel he can become a Pronger like shut down d man. The Whale gave up on Pronger, the kid. It takes time for big guys. Carlo is way ahead of where Pronger or Chara were at his age.
Working today. Gotta finish up a couple things before we go to Miami Thursday. That could change if a fiend really wants to paddle! Wow! That was supposed to say friend, Dr Freud!
Coffee!!!!
Pronger is a good comparison to draw. Never thought of it that way. You’re right, though, he looks better since he sat. One thing I have to give to Butch Cassidy is that if a young player looks “blah” out there and he benches them, they’re not stuck to the bench like they may have been with CJ.
Was the river super high on Saturday with all that rain? I have a handful of coworkers (mostly South Shore peeps) who have been without power for days.
By Saturday my favorites rivers were on the lower runnable side. Friday was the epic day. The steeper the river, the faster the water runs out. There’s are a couple fun runs that will hold for awhile.
Brad Park might be a good comparison for McAvoy.
for sure!
