BEHOLD THE ENORMOUS MANATEE!
The Chicago Blackhawks are in Boston for the first game of a home-and-home pairing.
The last game saw more points to B-March-63, with him continuing the roll he has been on. This has been both critical and a little surprising given Bergeron’s injury. Tuukka came back, and while he gave up a quick power-play goal, he had a pretty good game after that, stopping 31 of 33 shots vs Philly. Tuukka is expected to start in net today with Khudobin taking over in Chicago.
David Backes will continue his suspension for uhh…. being involved in a play that resulted in injury. So we can expect precious little ice time from him today. But we all know what THAT means…
NACHO DUTY!!! Venga todos a la piso nueve!
So we’ll probably see former Blackhawk Tommy Wingels take on his old team today. Yeah, I have a feeling the chances are good that he’ll be in the lineup…

Hopefully he can win sme faceoffs today — with both Bergeron & Backes out, the Bruins got destroyed on the faceoff dot yet again (37%).
(It looks like Haggs just wrote a story on that, but since I’ve previously pointed it out, as has Jack Edwards and Satan81, I will not link to it)
The Blackhawks have been a bit of a mess this season, falling to last in their division – note that their 66 points would be good for 5th in the Atlantic, so perhaps they should not be treated too lightly.
A critical problem they’ve had is goaltending — with Corey Crawford out for the season with a concussion suffered in December, they’ve been working with backup goaltenders Jeff Glass, Anton Forsberg, and Jean-Francois Berube, who are running sub-par in save percentage and above 3 in GAA. On the scoting side, their leading point producers are Patrick Kane (no surprise there), Nick Schmaltz, Jonathan Toews, and youngster Alex DeBrincat, with only Kane & Schmaltz at or above the 20 goal threshold so far.
Some in the ‘Hawks news media have suggested that they are primed for a recovery, but their recent record does not support this theory, as they are 5-5 in their last 10 with two of the wins requiring overtime.
Let’s do some lines…
With Backes still on suspension and Bergy & McAvoy still injured, we can expect some more of the new guys today
|Tuukka Rask||(Anton Khudobin)|
The Blackhawks are healthy right now except for the three teammates who have been out most of the season (Crawford & Rosival – concussion, Hossa – retired due to skin issues):
Brandon Saad — Jonathan Toews — Patrick Kane
Alex DeBrincat– Nick Schmaltz — Vince Hinostroza
Tomas Jurco — Artem Anisimov — Matthew Highmore
Patrick Sharp — David Kampf — Anthony Duclair
Duncan Keith — Connor Murphy
Erik Gustafsson — Brent Seabrook
Jordan Oesterle — Jan Rutta
