How much do you love Brad Marchand?

Last night for the fifth time this season, Brad scored the game winner in overtime, this time only 28 seconds into the extra period. It was almost like he said, “Fuck it, give me the puck, I’ll get it past that flopper Stalock”.

I was barely paying attention to the game because my dedication to hating the Mild is so great that I can’t watch the games without being angry that they almost killed hockey for me. I’m serious: that playoff series between the Stars and Mild made me hate the game. Only the Preds inspired run that season (and my hockey boyfriend, Roman Josi) saved the game for me. So, here are some notes instead of a recap.

  • After missing 13 games with a broken foot, Patrice Bergeron returned to game action without looking any worse for wear. This is not surprising since he is St Patrice.
  • Last night’s game had a couple of appearances by NO GOAL, who evidently was traded between the teams between periods. Noel Acciari should have had a beautiful backhanded whirl around goal but the refs decided that Riley Nash interfered with the Minnesota goalie,
  • If I have to watch an NBCSNOMGWTFAIDWML broadcast, I prefer to have Brian Boucher as the color analyst because he’s a good Rhode Island boy, like my boy Noel Acciari.
  • Pasta has another 30 goal season after scoring the sole Bruins regulation goal that counted.

  • Uh, I love Brad Marchand.

Morning all. Had a lovely surprise 70th birthday party for SatanDad yesterday. The two little kids there wanted to help put the candles in the cake which meant they needed to put ALL THE CANDLES in the cake, so about 40. SatanDad blew them all out in one go. I am still impressed.

Morning, hockey pals!

  • Marshy!!!
  • Flying to DC in a couple days and will see the Caps play the Hurricanes. Question is, do I wear my Whalers hoodie? I don’t want people to think I like the Caners, but I love my sweatshirt.
  • Technically it’s just a zip up and not a hoodie but whatever.
  • We took my mother to see Rod Stewart at Mohegan the other night. It was actually a really good time. I still don’t understand the whole “smoking indoors” casino thing, though. I still feel gross.

  • Somerville High, my old stomping ground, is doing a $256 million dollar rebuild. The building has been in continuous operation since 1852 – longest in MA – so I guess it’s overdue since the last addition/remodel was 1985, when they added the fieldhouse and trade wing, and turned the old gym into the library. Anyway, they gave tours this weekend, at the end of a week where I’ve been feeling super nostalgic and a need to get back to my roots – and it helped me figure out how to do it. When I was in the gym taking pictures of the championship banners, I realized they still don’t have a girls’ hockey team – they made a short-lived club team with Cambridge when I was a senior many years ago, but that was it, I guess. I texted my best friend about how I was considering helping coach a kids’ team so that I could get an in and find a way to make a girls’ high school team happen – I’d be dealing with two things I love – my favorite place and, well, you know about me and hockey, obviously. That was Saturday night. Sunday morning I woke up to a text from her, she already asked her kid’s coach about it and apparently I’m in next year. What?! So, I guess I’m doing it? hahahaha
  • With that, I guess I’d better tighten my hockey skills up, hahahah
  • Sorry for the wall of text. Coffee has hit.

Not sure if it was Boucher who said it, but one of the analysts said B rad might be an MVP candidate if it weren’t for the suspension, etc. I say he’s an MVP candidate in spite of suspension, etc.

For a while, the MVP talk was only among Bruins media, but it seems like it has broken out of that cage to the national (continental?) guys. I am curious to see if this trend has legs. My guess is that he can get some contrarian votes, but the majority would go for a safer candidate.

Man, they’re such wimps about voting. Who cares about a safe candidate? This isn’t for the presidency!
(not that anyone cared about a safe candidate there, either…. ugh)
