Morning Free Association: Ready for Game Six?

Saturday night was not a good night for the Boston Bruins. With opportunity to close the series with a win at home, the Bruins came out flat, eventually losing the game.

Tuukka Rask, who had played a brilliant game on Thursday night in Toronto, played poorly allowing 4 goals on 13 shots, only one of which occurred the the Bruins were at a one man disadvantage. Anton Khudobin came in for relief and went 8-8. This was unfortunate in the respect that Bruins fans who don’t know any better would call for Dobby to start game six in Toronto. No surprise, Bruce Cassidy is going with his starter.

For the record, Tuukka knows that he had a bad game. And he knows that can’t happen again.

But it wasn’t only Tuukka who had a bad game. Charlie McAvoy had difficulty staying upright at times and was on the ice for at least two goals against. Where was David Krejci? Excuse me, where is playoff David Krejci? His linemates were doing everything up and down the ice but he just disappears in the mix. He needs to get it going. The Bruins power play was a paltry 1-for-6. Especially frustrating considering at one point, they had a 5-on-3 opportunity for 1:34, ending up with no goals scored during that power play.

David Backes scored the first Boston goal on the power play, making the team within one score of the Leafs. Fourth liners Sean Kuraly and Noel Acciari would net the other two. The team would come up just short even with all 52 of their scoring chances.

Tonight, the series swings back to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Patrice Bergeron is considered ready to go, so is Tuukka. Let’s hope the Bruins start quick and smart and tell the Leafs go blow themselves.

Yeah that was weirdly dickish.
I remember that happened in the “Leafs make so many penalties at once that the ref can’t keep up” part of the game.

You are so right! Poor refs had to be like “we can’t, we just can’t call another one on the Leafs right now. “

Oh, I call that the “standing room only in the box yet we somehow can’t score a power play goal” segment

Jo has massaged using all manner of balms and rubs. We have tried everything including oxycodone left over from an old injury. It still feels like there’s a dagger stuck in there. I need to skate. Skating fixes everything!

I am more than ready to see the Bruins finish off the Maple Leafs.
Go B’s.

I was going to do some de-thatching (a.k.a. power raking) of the yard, but the dog had a bit too intense a park visit and I’ve got rope-burns (leash-burn?) on one hand, which was just enough adversity to convince me to devolve into not-doing-work-on-my-day-off instead.

Work is dull. I wanna play. Booooo.

Morning, hockey pals!

  • I had a lot of comments about game 5 but am trying to move past that. On to the next game!
  • I’m sure the boys will come out much better than they did on Saturday – they seem to take these lessons to heart – and the series will be closed out.
  • I’ve decided I can no longer live in the suburbs. One of the Aunts who died within a week of each other in the fall of 2016 has an apartment available until the house is officially sold, which will likely be in the fall, then they have three months to empty it after that, so I could really make out. It’s still furnished (with 50s furniture!), so I could toss everything but my clothes in storage for a few months. This could totally work for me. CROSS YO FINGERS.

    Hi Pals!!
Bruins player an awesome third period Saturday, they need three of those tomorrow!

I tore a muscle between my shoulder blade and my spine on Saturday (probably putting the boats back on the car) and it is killing me!!!! Can’t move hardly. I’m ready for tonight’s game now, because I am going nowhere!

    Good Monday to you.

Yeah this series has been a bit ugly at times but on the whole idea say Boston have looked the better team for the vast majority of the time.

I’d say the last two games have both been won by the weaker looking team actually, but over seven games it will hopefully even out. This series won’t go to 7 games tho…

Oh wow, I saw they were playing but forgot to check the result.

Anze Koptar got nothing on Rod Stewart’s son!

GB got promoted last year. Hopefully they can stay up!

Forgot that about Rod Stewart’s son! I’ve got Australia/Iceland on in the background at work.
