Morning Free Association: Game 7 Is Now Necessary

After the game, I needed to calm down. At about the midway point of the third period of game 6, I started to lose hope that the Bruins would win. IT’s been about an hour since the end of the game, and I am slightly less angry. But, please, allow me to vent this morning for this is the only space I feel comfortable doing it besides terrorizing my dog by constantly yelling at my television screen and threatening to punch it out.

I am just so very angry.

What team is this? The team I watched over the course of the season seemed to grow stronger as they grew more injured. The team I watched knew how to keep the puck in the attacking zone during a power play. The team I watched seemed to know how to complete passes, even to conduct blind passes, and seemingly knew where each of their teammates were on the ice as if they had eyes on all sides of their head.

How could the team I watched all season let this Leafs team back in the series? Sure, the regular season record against the Maple Leafs wasn’t great, but they managed to win one while still going through their injury crisis. I need not remind you that the beginning of this series started out with blowout wins by he Bruins. Is that what’s fooled me? Was that just an aberration that I was fooled to think would be the norm?

I have believed in this team all season, even when they started off poorly and injuries hit critical mass. And I’m not sure how I feel about the game on Wednesday. Will the threat of elimination make this team play like we’ve seen them do before?

One thing that I’m sure about is that Tuukka Rask was not the problem last night. In fact, I defended Tuukka Rask against the know-nothings who want Dobby to start game 7. Did you know that Tuukka is supposed to motivate his team? Or that Dobby apparently does such a good job cheerleading that the team plays differently in front of him? Yeah, I didn’t know these were things.

Game 7 is at 7:30 on Wednesday night in Boston. If you are an avowed superstitionist, please have all your appropriate clothing items/ food/ beverages on hand. The B’s need all the help they can get to win this one.

Post Script: Watching an episode of Aggretsuko on Netflix totally made me feel better.

Hey guys!

Well, I’m just flabbergasted, even after a whole workday of thinking about that game.

Arrrrrghh.
The website certificate expired in the time between when I checked on the site this morning and when I got into work.
And I can’t fix it until I get home.

Hey Pals!
Yup, I’m disappointed. Having said that, there is nothing more exciting than a game 7!!!!I
What happens to a hockey team that changes it from world beater to door mat? If I only knew. The Bruins need to be world beaters Wednesday night. I know that! There’s a line between confidence and overconfidence. When you’,re overconfident, you aren’t motivated to play the right way. Bruins forwards need only look at DeBrusk for examples. Straight ahead hockey. Less razzle dazzle, Pasta, more pucks to the net.
As for Tuukka, thank God for Tuukka!!!!! I didn’t think he was bad in game 5, but he put it on himself like a great teammate does. He stood on his head last night and gave the Bruins every chance to win. As well as the team played at times, they didn’t put the biscuit in the basket. I believe they will get it done Wednesday, though.
Long winded enough for ya?

If the Bruins could hold it together for just 2 minutes after scoring, they probably win that game.
I hate seeing them give up golden scoring opportunities on the next rush after putting in a goal. It pisses away all of their momentum and puts them on their heels.
And you’ve gotta put the biscuit in the basket when you dominate possession like they did during most of the game. Tuukka was money in that 3rd period and pitched a .931 for the game overall – that should be enough to win.

I agree. They can still pull this out of the fire. I just hope they don’t have to revisit the agita of game 7 of the 2013 series in order to do it.
