Morning Free Association: Chara Goes to Harvard

Remember this from last week?

Well it turns out, there’s a special class being held at Harvard University for athletes.

The class, which often attracts some of the most high profile athletes on the planet, aims to focus “on the unique challenges of developing, managing, and marketing a successful entertainment offering…the curriculum examines the crucial elements of effective talent management and entertainment business strategies.”

Wait, doesn’t PK Subban have all this info? Shouldn’t he be teaching the class?

My guess is that it’s a chance for these former and current athletes to develop their brand further and find ways to market themselves, their individual talents, and perhaps even grow their sports in a way. It’s great that this class is being offered annually and that athletes find ways to expand their impact. Also, wouldn’t it be neat if Big Zee got his taste of Harvard and then became the latest in a line of Bruins players who graduated from these hallowed halls just a hop, skip and a jump away?

You too can vote for NHL Awards! Well, not the stuffy ones but the fun ones. Pasta, Krug, and Marchy are all nominated in fan choice awards. you can vote without registering right here.

Good luck with the house hunt. Will you have to move very far out of town?

Heading to a chiroquackter this morn. Gotta get this pinched nerve sorted out. I haven’t had a good night of sleep for six weeks! Getting a lil grouchy.

    Goooooood mornin’ Pals!
I must confess, didn’t watch much of the third. By then the sea of red had me seeing red. I see red, I see red, I see red!

This game was over early and I needed some sleep. Sound up watching much of Gone With The Wind on TCM while waiting for Jo to come home. The Knights have their work cut out for them, but the bubble may have burst.

As much as I would love Vegas to win The Cup, the Caps have done a great job of knocking them off their game. Saw a comment somewhere where a person mentioned the Caps playing the Knights a bit more chippy than Vegas is used to. And the Caps winning the Cup would be pretty neat too just because you know Ovi is going to go nuts!

And Neal is going to have nightmares about that puck not going in.

I still have nightmares about a Marchand open-net whiff from like 4 years ago

If it’s the one I’m thinking of where it appeared he hit the post of an empty net (?) on the slow-mo replay Holtby actually got his stick on it.

It got me thinking about how Tuukka, as a positional goalie, doesn’t make so many spectacular saves, but that doesn’t make him any worse at his job. I think that may be why he gets so much criticism from occasional fans – he makes what he does look easy, Holtby makes it look hard.

Yeah, people love flashy but that doesn’t always mean it’s the best approach.
