There are some indubitable certainties in this world. The sky tends to be upward. Water is wet. Patrice Bergeron is perfect. And Joe Haggerty will always want to trade Tuukka Rask.
It has become so predictable that I often wonder how did Tuukka hurt Haggs? I want Haggs to point to the place on a doll where Tuukka hurt him.
Seriously, don’t read the article; I read it for you so that I could encapsulate the rage of the dull stupidity of this fucking lazy take.
Tuukka is not perfect and still has much to prove. He’s not Tim Thomas and never will be. He’s positional while Thomas wasn’t. Tuukka hasn’t had the benefit of a stout veteran defense in years; the last time was in 2013 when he stood on his head to get to the Stanley Cup Final. Rask’s inconsistency can be difficult to take (especially in October) and even harder to argue for. But Halak is not the long-term solution that the Bruins need. He’s an upgrade at back-up, nothing more.
The line that fired me up was this:
Nobody is saying to ship Rask simply for the sake of doing it…
Haggs, that is exactly what you’re saying all. the. time. You fucking lazy-ass gaslighter.
Get over it, man.
Good old Haggs. I swear he has this nonsense pre-written, and just fills in the first paragraph based on current events.
I have to wonder if the doll to which Haggs would point is a Tim Thomas Superstar Doll!
*He has Stanley Cups for legs!*
*He’s strong enough to carry an entire hockey team!*
*See the giant glove which catches everything*

Morning all. Day two of an oh so fun two week work stretch.
To me it really has nothing to do with Tuukka. Haggs writes dumb shit because he knows it riles people up, gets people to comment on Twiiter and what not, and it gives him clicks. It’s his shtick and it’s making him money. We all need to ignore him so he can fade into obscurity.
I won’t mention it’s my third day off in a row, then. Oops.. Long(ish) work stretch coming up though. It’s our darts league AGM tonight – I wouldn’t have made it in time if I’d been in work.
Just don’t look and he’ll go away!

Haha! Sounds like you needed a some time off after Silverstone! Speaking of, I was way to productive Sunday morning with no race. Had all my Sunday Chores done by 11:30!
Bahaha! Lisa’s voice can be kinda piercing …
Morning from the beach, hockey pals!
Good morning! Hope you’ve got beach weather!
If she’s anywhere in the northeast, she’s doing ok – for about another hour
Hey there!!
Hi Pals!!!
Stupid me! I read it. Listen, Halak has had some brilliant streaks during his career….. he’s had some miserable stretches, too. That’s a pretty nice career save percentage but Halak will not be pushing Tuukka any more than Dobby did. He gives a lil extra early season insurance for Tuukka’s slow start. I don’t see any better options than Tuukka anywhere. In fact, …… well, I don’t have to convince you, true believers. BTW, we should probably trade all the good defensemen for scorers as we have Halak now.
Double tonight. Looking forward to getting back on the ice.
We did some measuring this past weekend and consulted our carpenter. We’re putting a 5 foot side window over our kitchen sink!!! It’s going to look out over the valley. I’m pretty excited about it. It’s moving like a glacier, but it’s moving along.
This is one of my main issues with the Tuukka haters. Who do they want instead? And what are they prepared to give up to get him? They never seem to have any suggestions.
Sounds fab. We have an unfortunate triangle between the back door, the mirror in our dining room, and the shower. It’s handy if I want to spy on anyone in the garden while I’m in the shower but unfortunately it works both ways! Have to make sure the bathroom door is shut!
Alls I’m saying is if you’ve got a nice picture window, be careful where you hang your mirrors …

Yeah, the suggestions are usually foolish. The most coherent I’ve gotten is to get a mediocre goalie for cheap money, and offset him with better skaters.!”
The next is to magically pull a superstar goalie out of no-where because obviously since Hutchinson is on fire, we know which of Malcolm/Zane/Vladek is ready to bust out.
And the 3rd most coherent (so – not at all) is to pull in back-up flavor-of-the-month goaltender as a starter. “Start Khudobin! Start Hammond! Start
Yeah, they love a recency bias, that’s for sure
It’s pretty much entirely about Tuukka letting up 2 goals in 17 seconds in Game 6. The Tuukka haters are never getting over that.
Generally across hockey, you’ll find people who look at save percentages and GAA and get the impression that the numbers separating a good goalie from a bad one are very minute. So why pay extra money for a seemingly insigificant difference? Er, except that it isn’t insignificant. Oops.
Likely true – Tuukka’s save stats for that playoff run were pretty similar to the Tim Thomas Cup run except for the last 17 seconds. If Tuukka makes one of those last 2 saves or one of his skaters has their head correctly screwed on at the draw, then Tuukka’s probably a king in Boston.
