Morning Free Association: Virtual Hockey

We’re officially in the dog days of Bruins hockey summer. There is nothing new to report. Having to choose between two sets of Bruins PR items, I choose the one that seemed more interesting that the other.

Apparently, there is virtual reality hockey training software and two Bruins defensemen demonstrated how to use it.

I found it funny that the two guys they choose were both defensemen known for their prolific scoring.

Just kidding; it was Adam McQuaid and Brandon Carlo. I did enjoy seeing Carlo celebrate his virtual score. I hope it helps them both, especially in the upcoming season.

pretty sure virtual hockey would be horrible for training.

Something tells me it would throw your timing off slightly.

Additionally, you watch the Jagr training video and hes taking wristers with donut weights…inversely…here you are training with …air.

And lastly ….the last thing the Bruins need to get in a habit of is not moving their feet while handling the puck.

It sounds like a nice toy, but mostly impractical.

Morning all. Kind of over all this humidity. It’s warped my bathroom door and now it won’t stay shut unless I prop my ironing board on the door.

yeah…i was using those 3M sticky wall hook things to hold up a giant canvas print on brick and it fell on my head last night while watching tv after being up there for a year….wtf weather!

Our bathroom door swells when humid, so the top sticks on the jamb and needs an extra shove to close correctly. Every summer I shave more off the top of the door until it stops being humid. Grrr.

Hi folks.

Saw an interesting tweet this morning pointing out the Bs defensive depth – Chara, McAvoy, Krug, Miller, McQuaid, Griz, Moore, Carlo, (Zboril?). More?

Who will be the regular starters? It’s not immediately obvious to me. I guess camp will sort it out.

On one hand it’s a good problem to have but on the other hand there’s no point having decent Dmen sat around doing nothing. Trade possibilities? I don’t know.

Heading back to England today. It’s been a lovely relaxing couple of weeks but in a way I’m also looking forward to getting back to more familiar surroundings.

Oh it is. And their two main sports are hockey and whitewater paddling! A tailor-made country for you!

Sweeney likes depth, so we’ll probably see what we saw this past year (minus Postma). Griz, Moore, Zboril struggling to get onto the top-6, and then McQuaid will get injured and everyone will take a tour with the big club.
(Perhaps Moore can squeeze his way on in someone’s stead?)
