Morning Free Association: Anders Bjork Goes Back to South Bend

As part of their summer series called Bear Tracks, the Boston Bruins followed Anders Bjork back to South Bend, Indiana. Anders Bjork attended Notre Dame for 3 years while playing hockey for the Fighting Irish before signing his ELC in 2017.

Since the Bruins will be playing against the Chicago Blackhawks in the Winter Classic at the Notre Dame football stadium, the Bruins have used this opportunity for fans to get to know the location and the community through their young forward.

Anders visited with professors and a third-grade teacher that he worked with first to fulfill a community service requirement and then because he enjoyed mentoring the children.

That Bjork is a good egg.

I have been gone from these boards (yet active everywhere else) for over a year. That will change soon!

My schedule is changing next week. I will start work at 8am. For the last year, I have been working so many odd jobs or non-traditional office jobs.

I feel like most of you know what I have been up to, but here is a rundown

August 2017- I quit my job at Goodwill of NWNC and move to Raleigh to attend NC State. I got a job at a grocery store.

January 2018- I moved back to Winston-Salem because I did not jive with Raleigh, even though seeing the Canes nearly any time I wanted to was cool as well as Raleigh’s bike friendly roads.

February 2018- I transferred to 98% female attended Salem College. I also started working in the afternoons for a small construction firm doing HR, payroll and accounts payable stuff.

May 2018- Summer break begins, so I picked up three other part time jobs.

Late August 2018- School resumes, and I come back to you.

Hey hockey pals!

I did not forget about you. Crazy couple weeks at work, and I know people are usually only here in the AM, so if I can’t get on first thing, I usually just kind of pop in and read, all lurky-like.

I can’t wait til hockey season, other than that meaning summer is all done.

I finally got the site working again on my phone, keep dropping in around noon while at work, and realizing I am way too frigging late!

Hello!

Looking forward to see a lot more Bjork this year hopefully.

Got in the door at 1am this morning, then was completely wired so didn’t bother going to bed until 3 (shouldn’t have had that scotch &coke on the plane). The holiday started with us getting up at 3am for an early flight so it had a kind of, what’s the word? Some sort of resonance maybe? I dunno.

Then had a dream in which I met Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews, presumably because I was in Austria for a couple of hours. The mind, eh? What a machine!

Hey Pals!
Stayed cool yesterday – the river, the pool, the ice rink. Tough to top a day like that!
I think a 100 game schedule is in order for the NHL. Start camp in August and hockeyl!!!!
Thinking i need more river therapy!

I would settle for the AHL starting in August… give a little ramp up to the big show.

That would be fun – slide the whole AHL schedule ahead by 8 weeks or so and then there’s less overlap with the playoffs as well.

Hi all! Long time no post!
Here’s hoping some of these youngsters can stay healthy this season and see the postseason from ice level.

Welp…. It’s had it’s ups and downs for sure. Stop here if you don’t want emotional TMI stuff but my wife got basically forced to resign from her teaching position through some dirty politics and that was a rough go. Fortunately she found a cool (if not super great paying) job at a bilingual private school in PVD that she is very excited about. But now my father was diagnosed with a form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma and is starting chemo… today, I think. I’m several hours drive away so feel kind of down that I can’t support them more directly. So I could use some hockey talk and general silliness!

Ugh, sorry to hear. Best of luck and health to your dad. And it amazes me the politics that go in school systems.
We’re always here for general silliness!
