We’re ten days from the start of the Bruins 2018-19 season. I don’t want to panic you but it seems like Patrice Bergeron might not be ready for the first game. No one is saying this, of course. In fact, all they’re saying officially is that he’s skating on his own, or rather with a bunch of other injured players, and that he’s hoping to be ready for October 3rd. I feel like it was the same story last season with Patrice struggling to get healthy, missing some games early in the season.

I guess we can throw David Backes on the preseason injury pile. Welp.

Saturday night, in a game that was televised nowhere, the Bruins took on the Detroit Red Wings in the Motor City. They ended up losing in overtime but not before Axel Andersson got his first goal and words of encouragement from a mentor, Zdeno Chara.

The B’s play again tonight in Philadelphia. Don’t worry, it won’t be on TV and probably not on radio either. Only 10 more days…

Morning, hockey pals!

  • Made a trip to Ikea on Saturday that ended up going pretty horrendously BUT I got my stuff and got out of there (after a couple hours), so that’s a plus, I guess.
  • My brother in law and sister were awesome and helped me build everything – or mostly built everything for me. I owe them big.
  • With that, I am finally starting to feel like I live in my apartment!
  • I have to interview three prospective employees today. One of them works here and would be coming from the department next door, whose manager already poached one of my people and then made him so miserable that he begged to come back. She’s driving this one bananas, too. Wish me luck!
  • I know sweater weather means hockey but I really would have liked a couple more beach days. I has a sad.

Ikea trips being horrendous is par for the course isn’t it? My Dad flat refuses to go.

I actually quite like putting together Ikea stuff – reminds me of Lego. Although one time I was putting together a fold up bed. I got the framework together then took a break. Then realised I had used the wrong bolts and had to take it all apart again, so an hour and a half into the job I had made exactly zero progress! Ah well.

Sweater weather’s great – I just wish we could have a few more hours of daylight.

    Hi Pals!
Fun weekend!!! West River Saturday, work Sunday. A million friends at the West! Good times!

Dan Winnik can do all the 3rd, 4th line stuff. A little Paille like. Speedy.

Patrice…. rest it as long as you need to, dude. We don’t want you hobbled in the Spring.

    Coffee!!!

I’m not too worried about the early season injury slog. As long as it doesn’t drag on too long.
    Better rested than re-injured.

    Couldn’t agree more.

Plus it could give some of the kids a chance to get some action in not-super-important games.
