As of yesterday, there were no real new updates on the injuries that have hit the B’s in recent days. Well, nothing other than about one defenseman who has yet to start his season.
While it’s still unclear exactly what’s going on with Charlie McAvoy and with he and Kevan Miller back in Boston getting tests performed, Torey Krug is back skating. He was due to fly up to Ottawa to join the team for practice but flight issues delayed his ability to get to the Canadian capital. Still, Cassidy realizes that Torey Krug might have to be eased back into game action after re-injuring his ankle during a preseason game.
“He’s gonna have to battle at some point. That’s where you have to be careful, you don’t want to re-injure a guy in practice,” said Cassidy. “But don’t forget, he missed all of training camp – he was with us the last week of training camp, played a game and a couple of shifts.
“It’s like starting over again for him, getting the feel of jostling, battling for pucks – not just hitting, but the grind of every shift winning pucks. We’ll have to get him up to speed.”
It’ll be good to have Krug back eventually because the team could use his production on offense, including the power play.
In other Bruins news, it looks like Tuukka might be back in net tonight against the Tootsies. It sounds like Cassidy will have a chat with Goalie Bob to see if Tuukka will be ready to go. I hope he is and that he has a good game. He needs it.
