Is there a better way to end a Canadian road trip than to stop by Ottawa to play the Tootsies? Maybe but last night was a pretty good way to do it.

The game was not perfect, of course; the Bruins should have had more goals. It wasn’t for lack of trying. This team looked far more cohesive than they had in more than a week. And Patrice Bergeron would have had an additional goal had he not been tripped in a sequence in front of the Senators goal that also saw Urho Vaakanainen knocked out of the game with a purposely errant elbow to the head courtesy of Mark Borowiecki. Neither infraction resulted in a penalty.

Craig Button was incensed on TSN stating that Borowiecki needs to be suspended.

Vaakanainen has a concussion in just his second NHL game. No word yet from the Department of Player Safety on how they’ll handle this.

Despite the loss of Vaakanainen, the defense stepped up, absorbing his minutes, and in the case of Brandon Carlo, making some fantastic saves. Here they are in the first and third periods.

Not only did Brando Carlrissian lead the team in being awesome, he led in overall TOI with 28:28 logged. It was good to see it too, after he had been unable to prevent the overtime goal on Saturday night after having another great game. I think the kid can play defense for sure.

The Senators only goal came on a power play when Zdeno Chara was in the penalty box after a weak cross-checking call against him.

The B’s scored at both even strength and with the man (or men) advantage. David Pastrnak scored two, bookending the game on his four-point night. With his 10 goals, he is currently tied for first in the league with Auston Matthews. Pasta is better because he’s more fun.

David Krejci also checked in with a PPG at the end of the second after the Sens committed two penalties including Too Much Man (on the penalty kill, tsk tsk). Bergy would open that scoring in the third and clean up that power play with a goal of his own.

The B’s are heading home with four out of eight points on the road trip. Next up: Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday and the Habs on Saturday night.

Trade Tuka! Carlo can backup Halak!

I jest of course, but it’s probably been suggested seriously by someone on Twitter…

Does Pasta have a shot at the Rocket Richard this year?

Wagner? Hmmm. I’m not convinced.

Got a busy week here. In-laws are over.

Had a nice trip to Stonehenge yesterday. Didn’t see Spinal Tap, unfortunately. Then to Salisbury looking for some a Russian spies.

Tomorrow I’m taking Father in law to Liverpool and we’re meeting my dad there, so that should be a fun one!

see if there are any reports of Liverpool burning down.

It’s funny you should say that – my dad installed a sprinkler system in a shop in Liverpool – but that was in 1973!
