Sunday saw the return of Jeremy Lauzon to Providence. Just as quickly as he was sent down, he was recalled on an emergency basis.
As Torey Krug prepares to begin his season on tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes, Matt Grzelcyk will likely sit it out with an lower body injury sustained on Saturday night against the Habs. Grzelcyk didn’t practice on Monday and might be good to go though he remains doubtful for tonight.
“[On Sunday], he did not feel great,” said Cassidy, “Today couldn’t practice, so he’s doubtful for tomorrow. We’ll have to see how he is…if Grizz recovers well enough to play tomorrow then we’d look at putting him in for, I guess you’d say, [Jeremy] Lauzon or [Steven] Kampfer.
“We’d have to decide what’s the best fit for our lineup. Obviously Kampfer being a right shot probably keeps him in.”
Charlie McAvoy is back skating but isn’t playing tonight and it’s unclear whether or not he’ll be back in the lineup on Saturday night. David Backes looks to be back then. To help out offensively, center Colby Cave was called up from Providence. The ginger sensation has 5 G and 5 A in 8 games played with Providence this season. Maybe he can give that third line a much needed boost.
