Vegas is in Boston tonight, and they’re ready to…
Naahhh. VGK isn’t a particularly physical team. But they are ready to gamble.
The Bruins (a.k.a. the Bi-Polar Bears) bounced back from an embarrassing defeat on Thursday night to the Vancouver Canucks, with a satisfying 5-1 win vs the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Jaro Halak, after being pulled on Thursday because he let in 3 goals on 7 shots, had an excellent game, stopping 40 of 41 shots, including blanking the Leafs on a dismal 9-shot penalty kill in the 20 shot first period. After that, the Bruins skaters got their feet back under them. The Leaf-killer 63-37-88 line dropped 4 goals on Toronto, including a David Pastrnak hat trick and a power-play goal. Also getting on the board was Jacob Nordstrom on a feed from David Krejci.
In response to Tuukka Rask taking some personal time. the Bruins called up Dan Vladar from Providence, and signed a new G to the P-Bruins on a PTO (Sean Bonar).
The team has also finally spoken aloud concerning the absence of Charlie McAvoy – while mentioning ongoing vestibular issues, the player showed full-on concussions symptoms since the Edmonton game, and has been held out. He has just recently begun skating again.
Let’s do some lines.
Baby bruin JFK will be in the house again tonight
Prospect Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson was called up for 3rd line center in Saturday’s game, and played well enough to get a second look tonight. Noel Acciari was a healthy scratch – it remains to be seen whether he will be out tonight as well.
Brandon Carlo is injured and not expected to play.
Carlo has an upper-body, so he’s questionable, probably won’t play. … He got hit the latter part of the game. He played through most of it. Came in this morning not doing great.
— Coach Bruce Cassidy
Jeremy Lauzon was recalled to Boston and is likely to take Brando’s place.

Vegas’ magic from last season has seemingly not persisted through this season – they are at a sub-par 7-9 so far, and are suffering from some non-trivial injuries. Nate Schmidt, Deryk Engelland, Erik Haula and new acquisition Paul Statsny are all on the injury list. Other notable acquisition Max Pacioretty has only scored 2 points on the season.
