Friends, light your prayer candles and pray to the Hockey Gods for there is word on Patrice Bergeron’s injury.

It’s not good but we’ll take it.
It’s official: Bruins say that Patrice Bergeron is out with a rib and sternoclavicular injury. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

This is a very painful injury. Seeing that the sternoclavicular joint basically is affected by movement of arms, shoulders, and chest, Patrice cannot be feeling too good. Adding a rib injury to that must make it feel worse.
The good thing is that this doesn’t look like it needs surgery as broken clavicle often does for athletes. However, since we don’t know if it’s a dislocation or a sprain, treatment may very. As will all cartilage injuries, if it doesn’t require surgery it requires rest.
Like Chara, Bergeron will be out for at least 4 weeks. It will seem like forever but this team will soldier on.
