Tonight, the Bruins are meeting the Buffalo Sabres.
The Bruins had a nice little three game winning streak going, having beaten Toronto, Ottawa and Arizona, but that didn’t survive a trip to Pittsburgh.
You can judge for yourselcf whether their fashion sense survived:

The Bruins were chasing the score most of the game, falling to 1-3 behind, but then catching up again, only to give up another goal, and later an empty netter for a 3-5 loss.
Let’s do those lines.
Injuries remain an issue for the Bs. Team captain and alternate captain Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron have begun skating with each other, but not participating in practice. Urho Vaakanainen was a bit further ahead, but is out with flu-like symptoms. Defenseman Kevan Miller – suffering from a bruised larynx – has begun skating at practice – he was paired with Jeremy Lauzon on Thursday, wearing a non-contact jersey. David Backes caught a skate blade to the face but did not miss any practices. Forward Jake DeBrusk is officially in the concussion protocol and isn’t going to play for a while. Sean Kuraly has been wearing a full face visor/cage to protect his broken nose during practice.

This evening’s opponent are the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres have gone on an impressive win streak since last time these two teams met, leapfrogging the Bruins in the standings. They are now at 19-9-5 for 43 points, or a 5 point lead on the Bs. The Sabres can boast the most Latvian roster players of any team in the NHL, with one. Though they do have multiple players whose names sound Latvian, so that’s important. Also, timely. Latvia is the source of the Christmas tree tradition. Latvia is also home to a tradition of the menfolk dressing up in funny costumes ant marching around town singing songs to frighten away evil spirits. This tradition is known as “caroling” or “pub crawling”.

Defenseman Marco Scanella has been suffering vertigo and may also miss the game. Blue-liner Jake McCabe has also been out with an upper-body injury.
