Patrice Bergeron, Zdeno Chara, Kevan Miller, Jake Debrusk, and Urho Vaakanainen all took the ice for practice yesterday. However, they are not all clear for contact.
Patrice looks to be back this weekend, hopefully on Saturday against the Predators. His injury, the sternoclavicular joint and ribs, was very painful and required two weeks of rest before he could rehab it in earnest.
“There wasn’t much you could do, especially for your ribs. You let them heal,” said Bergeron. “And the shoulder was the same, the cartilage was fractured – that’s just time, basically. The treatments were pretty straightforward that way. Once the pain went down, we started adding some exercises and strengthening to make sure it feels better.”
Ouch. Imagine dealing with that, two kids and a third recently born. Bergy must be glad to be feeling better.
Zdeno Chara wasn’t wearing a [insert your favorite wine color here] since they don’t have any in his size he being a giant and all. It’s kind of humorous they don’t have one as well as a testament to his ability to stay healthy or someone forgot to order one.
Kevan Miller has been skating since last week but isn’t ready yet either. Let’s hope he can come back for good this season. Both DeBrusk and Vaakanainen seem to be progressing through their concussion protocols well.
With only three games left before the Christmas freeze the Bruins need every point and available body to get those points. Maybe by the Winter Classic on New Year’s Day we could have a whole team?
