Morning Free Association: Poor Charlie

Charlie Mcavoy has been battling an injury since late December. Turns out, it’s a foot infection that he obtained after a blocked shot in against the Habs on December 17th.

He detailed his injury progression with Conor Ryan of the Boston Sports Journal.

“It actually exploded the skin inside the skate,” McAvoy said of his injury. “Got stitches in there. Played through it to Christmas. Just trying to make it work until then and then we were excited for those three days (off for Christmas) to really just let it heal.

“Unfortunately, on the 24th, 25th, I started to notice signs of infection. Came back to Boston, had to get on top of it right away with antibiotics. … Unfortunately had to cut my time short with my family, but it was good to get on top of it, because I really didn’t know much about it.”

It’s good that he got that checked out. In this age of superbugs and antibiotic resistant bacteria, an injury like that can devastate a career.

Yesterday was the first time McAvoy returned to practice wearing a normal black practice jersey, which means his return is imminent, though he’s ruled out for tonight’s tilt against the Caps.

Still with Charlie dealing with things that are beyond his control, some of the dumbest Bruins fans, who probably have bought too much into Tardygate, are making dumb predictions about the young defenseman.

This is just an insane take. Imagine being that stupid. I know it’s too difficult because you are all highly intelligent humans who believe that Charlie has been bitten bad by the injury bug and that big needs to fuck off.

Anyway, one last Charlie thing – Charlie took the Biz Nasty Challenge recently. Just a gentle reminder there are no reptiles depicted but some mentions of some slithery legless animals.

#CBJ announce that G Sergei Bobrovsky “will not be with the team” tonight when they play Nashville. Release does not use the word suspension, but that’s how it sounds. pic.twitter.com/oGOSasL2P9

Hmm. What’s Bobrovski been up to?

Yeesh, Charlie. Can’t take any chances with infections. Glad it sounds like he’s on the mend.

Somehow, Twitter idiots seem to be getting even dumber.

Meanwhile, Haggs is still pushing the “Tardygate” story line.

Morning, hockey pals!

  • Yay, Caps tonight. Uh, yeah, that’s it.
  • Day 18 of this flu. I at least don’t feel flu-like anymore, but I still have this gross cough. Luckily moved out of this stupid stage, which is where I was when I went to Chicago.

  • I can’t wait for McAvoy to be back in the lineup. Sometimes you have a shitty season like this where a bunch of different injuries hit you. Better than one nagging problem, I guess?
  • My coworker can’t pronounce Hyannis and won’t even try. That’s weird, right?
  • My hockey season is postponed because not enough people signed up. Boo.

Morning all. Anyone need a roommate? Landlord is giving my apartment to his daughter May 1st. Ugh.

Oh no! I’m sorry, that blows, and is what happened to me in the fall of 2017 (which is why your brother is not my roommate). Is there a reasonable amount of housing up there? Or are you going to have to live in a covered bridge?comment image?cid=3640f6095c375b5277666e5832f4b67b

Oof, that’s rough. Hope you don’t have to move too far.

We have a comfy sofa bed. The commute might be a challenge but think of the books and podcasts you’d get through!
