The Saturday before the Bruins were set to go on their league-mandated bye week, Tuukka Rask was knocked out of the game against the New York Rangers with a concussion. This Monday, just nine days after the on-ice incident, Tuukka was spotted talking to Goalie Bob on the ice at Warrior Arena prior to practice. On Wednesday, Tuukka was on the ice for practice.
Now, let’s temper those expectations. While Bruce Cassidy seems optimistic that Tuukka could return tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers, it’s not a given that he will.
“There’s a good chance [Rask will play vs. Flyers],” Cassidy said. “We’re going to wait and see how he does in the morning after his first full practice, and that there’s no fatigue or whatnot after missing time. Assuming he’s ready to go and feels (good) about everything, there’s a good chance that he’ll get in.”
Tuukka reportedly didn’t suffer much from post concussive headaches but did experience nausea and motion sickness, similar to what reportedly kept Charlie McAvoy out for so long with his concussion. However, Tuukka doesn’t seem to indicate that these symptoms have lingered.
And Tuukka isn’t mad at Charlie for pushing that guy into him, saying it’s just one of those things that happen.
Hopefully, we’ll see Tuukka tonight.
Vegas and I agree today that it is too cold for walks.
Even we are expecting snow today!
Do you like or dislike snow? You don’t get it often. I have a friend in the UK from South Africa and she delights in snow.
I’m kind of indifferent. It plays havoc with the trains and makes the path slippery. Little Bear loves it, of course!
We go to Slovakia every winter where they have proper snow for months. I do like that, although I imagine it would get old after a couple of weeks.
There was a gif doing the rounds this morning of Chicago commuter rail crossovers burning – because the transit authority covered them in burning fuel to defrost them in the sub-zero temps.
Wow! If in doubt… use fire!
We have virtually no winter weather measures – happy to just let everything grind to a standstill once every two years or so. Gives people something to complain about and a good story to tell!
It’s pretty neat the system they use during the winter in Chicago to heat the tracks to keep the switches working:

It is too cold for anything, except bed.
Yeah, I have no plans for outside today. I have no need to go out unless I go stir crazy.
Hey all,
Hopefully Tuukka’s back in tonight. Halak is a back-up goalie and he’s been playing like one. Was never going to keep up that early-season form. He’ll probably have another hot streak before the season’s over.
Darts match was done last night by 8.30 – much earlier than usual – but I still ended up getting home at 1am. I’m old enough to know better really… Still, I had enough about me to think to prepare Leah’s pack lunch when I got in rather than do it this morning with a hangover!

Ha! I’d laugh if there was a random dart in her lunch box.
^HILARIOUS!!!!^
Morning all. Not that there’s any good time to get a concussion but fortunately it was going into the bye week so he had some time to heal up.
Hey Pals!
A very tired Stripes….. three games last night…. 8, 9:40, and 11:10. Yup, 11:10 start time for game #3. I couldn’t believe people showed up!
I stay inside now…… fucking cold!!!!!
I want to go someplace warm!!!!
11:10?!? I would have just said “I’m not calling anything. In fact, I’m going to sleep in the penalty box while you play. Wake me up when it’s over,”
I called an icing in the first period. I looked at the dman who shot it down the of and said “that may be the first time I’ve called icing after 11pm. let me assure you, it will be the last.” Only called them if they have an unfair advantage after that.
Of course , the game went to O/T AND a shootout. Fun game but, I could have lived without O/T. Goal with 33 seconds left by the eventual losers made it necessary. Goalie for winners told me that it i had just waved off the controversial goal of the game, we could have been drinking beer 15 minutes earlier.
Thanks, Goalie.
Especially long winded this morning…… I’m blaming the broccoli I ate last night.
I was just about to make that point!
Or both teams could have saved you the trouble and said “We’re fine with a tie.” at the end of regulation.
It was tied at the end of the second…… I recommended going to the shootout then.
Funny, one of the team’s had a father/ son combo. (most of the players in this league 40 – 50) So, standing in front of the other bench and I mentioned the kid, who already had a couple goals. Other teams best player told me he was glad the kid was there, otherwise it wouldn’t be a close game. “This is what we want every night – really close games!”
Yessir!!!
That player once had ambitions to play in a more competitive league, I think?
Or on arrival, they could have said, “You know what time it is? It’s beer o’clock!” And then they go straight into drinking.
This is the most correct answer to this whole situation.
Yeah, I think so. Occam’s Razor and all that.
“game went to O/T AND a shootout”
That’s when one appreciates sudden death.
In that someone’s gonna die if they don’t wrap this thing up soon!
