MFA: The Good, The Bad, the Ugly February 15

Before we get into the good, the bad, and the ugly this week, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that it’s Jaromir Jagr’s 47th birthday. So happy birthday to Kladno’s finest!

The Good:

  • The Bruins play of late. Winners of three, the Bruins beat the Kings and Avalanche in back-to-back overtime games then handed the Chicago Blackhawks their collective ass with a 6-3 win on Tuesday all the while missing a key piece to their team this season. Bruce Cassidy flipped some players around, notably Danton Heinen who had 5 points in those three games (2G, 3A).
  • Perfect Patrice had 6 points in those games this week, including a 3-point performance on the day of his 1000th game celebration. Dude must have been playing with that silver plated stick he got that day.

The Bad:

  • Aside from the fact that the Bruins let two games by lesser teams go to overtime, the Bruins lost David Pastrnak to an off-ice injury. After a team event on Sunday, Pasta fell down and injured his thumb, requiring a surgery on Monday to repair it. He’s due to be re-evaluated in 2 weeks.

The Ugly:

  • The Bruins squandering early leads. Yeah, it keeps happening and it’s frustrating as hell to watch your team beat the other and let them back in. The only game this week in which that didn’t happen was the Blackhawks game because once they gave up the first goal, they never let up again.

The Gritty:

There was much grittastic stuff this week!

Like I said, Grittastic!

So I happened to drive by this little disaster on Wednesday:
https://www.metrowestdailynews.com/news/20190213/framingham-firefighters-fight-blaze-at-windsor-green-no-one-injured
You wouldn’t believe the amount of smoke that filled the neighborhood. The fire trucks were just arriving.
Then, maybe an hour later I passed it going the other way, and they had the road blocked off but had pretty much controlled the fire. I was hoping to get a clearer look at it, but it’s obviously better that they’d gotten it cleared up quickly.

I am very curious about this story:

Camporeale said Wednesday’s incident was the first fire in the complex he could recall in 45 years, although many years earlier, a small plane crashed into the pool.

I wonder when Waitsfield is going to take the Christmas wreath off the covered bridge? Still on there.

Morning, hockey pals!

  • Sorry I’ve been a little MIA this week, been interviewing people and it’s sucking the life out of me.
  • My day was bananas yesterday. Someone spoofed our dept phone number and called literally like 100,00 people and a fair amount of them called to yell at us. It was insane here. We ended up having to call the FCC and FBI. Insanity.
  • comment image

  • Deadline deals… I don’t know how I feel about any of it at this moment. I’m torn between “fucking go for it, Sweenius!”, and “there’s no way we’re winning so don’t trade the farm yet”. I don’t know!!!!

I’m laissez faire about the whole trade thing. Just let it play out.

Is adding anyone going to get the Bruins past Washington and Tampa Bay? That’s a tall order. I really like the chemistry of the team, as is.

I’m more afraid of Washington than TB. We have a better time with the Lightning (but yes they are wicked, wicked good)

First question: Are you a Bruins fan?
    Response: I’m sorry, what?
    You: NEXT!!!!!!!

There’s a guy in our department and we’re convinced the only reason he got hired is because he’s a fan of Northampton Town FC, as is our manager…

    Hey All!
The Gritfather!!!!! How many Philly families will want Gritty as a Gritfather???? All of them!!!!
I’ll be taking a nap this afternoon, so I can watch the Bruins tonight!!! Okay, who am I kidding? I nap every afternoon and haven’t slept through the night since I hit 60! West coast trip …… No problem.
Jo and I both worked last night, but I did manage to make her a valentine dinner – peas and pesto risotto… big hit!! A lil Bonterra cab sau didn’t hurt.
We’ve been bingeing (is that a word?) on Doc Martin, the BBC series. Finished season 8 – all our library has – so either have to buy season 9 or wait. It’s good stuff.
Thinking about working today and that has me tired already (long winded, too!).
    Mo coffee!!!!

I need to find a new show to binge. Finished Russian Doll on Netflix. Natasha Lyonne is fantastic.

The Gritfather always makes me a little sad in the scene where the Phanatic gets whacked at the tollbooths.
