Morning Free Association: Two Games Down, Two More to Go

This weekend the Bruins started out their West Coast Roadtrip with back-to-back wins against the lowly Anaheim Ducks and the even lowlier Los Angeles Kings. It pretty much could not go better for the B’s.

On Friday night, Jaroslav Halak was lights out, posting his fourth shutout of the season. The scoring started out with what Stripes described accurately.

My poor boy slapped the crap out of that shot and my other boy tipped it in. I’m happy however MY POOR BOY CANNOT SCORE A GOAL TO SAVE HIS LIFE AND HE”S TRYING SO HARD. THat’s okay Brando Carlrissian, I will celebrate the hell out of your defensive beastliness.

Jake DeBrusk was up next with a dirty goal in the crease.

Former Duck and current Mayor of Walpole, Chris Wagner, sealed the game. Big Zee had to hug all his little bear cubs in celebration.

The Saturday night game against the Kings was full of fun things like Tuukka Motherfucking Rask being a badass in net, Brad Marchand taking matters into his own hands, goals from the kids, and Patrice Bergeron poke checking a goal.

Let’s talk about Tuukka first.

He faced some real scoring threats like this breakaway

and then a very un-Tuukka-like save that dropped jaws.

Tuukka watched as his defenders decided to engage in curling in front out him, doing what he needed to do.

Brad’s goal was a no-nonsense wrister off the face-off. Moments before he was chirping at Jeff Carter. Maybe he should just chirp him during each game if it causes goals like this?

Jake DeBrusk scored in the first period. The Kings made comebacks in the second and third periods, tying up the game before Charlie McAvoy scored the game winner in the third. Within 36 seconds, Bergy did this thing.

The four points this weekend were critical to the Bruins regaining the second spot in the Atlantic (as was the Leafs loss to the Yotes). After a rough patch a couple of weeks back, with five straight wins, the B’s are on a tear. Hopefully they can continue this fun winning thing in San Jose tonight.

Hey All!
That two pad stack!!!!! Where did that come from????? That had to be all reaction from some muscle memory deep in his youth (long before the VH style of goaltending came into play). Spectacular!
Mo welding today, and I am suddenly muy popular!!! Show me the money, bitches. Pimpin’ be hard!!

That was pretty awesome. Jack loses his cool whenever a goalie stacks the pads – I love it.

On a tear indeed! Nice to see them not playing down to the level of bad opponents. Secondary scoring ftw!

Greetings from Slovakia. It’s lovely and warm and sunny, with snow everywhere. Perfect!

Enjoy your holiday! It’s tourist time here because of school vacation so we have ALL THE SKIERS!

Thanks! Do you find the tourists annoying or do they liven the place up a bit?

Most are pretty cool, especially the ones that have been coming up to ski here for years. There has been an influx of annoying hipsters with the whole craft beer scene happening and Lawson’s Finest opening their new beer hall in town.

So short answer to your question is yes and yes. grin

Believe it or not, we get NYC people here in NW CT to ski. My neighbor is running a B&B and has a family there now. I am picking up extra bucks shoveling for them….. Trickle down effect!!!! (It’s right there with “a penny for your thoughts.” )

Double tonight!!!!! Will miss the Bs. Replay in the morn, methinks.

Secondary scoring ftw!

If it’s Carlo and Acciari, we may have to call it tertiary scoring! lol

And to whoever found the “on” switch for Jake DeBrusk, thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou

I started to write something about JD but then remembered so many others have chipped in too. I’m a big Debrusk fan. He’ll end the season with 20-25 goals which is great for a second year. With a bit more consistency he’ll be a real weapon.
