Yesterday was an eventful day for the Bruins. In the early evening, word came from a Minnesota source that Charlie Coyle was told he was traded but not to whom.

Later, Bob McKenzie confirmed that he heard it was Coyle for Ryan Donato and that they were working out the details. Bruins Hockey Twitter had mixed reactions but fans wondered why it hadn’t been officially announced red by the team. It turns out that the Bruins had the full 23 man roster at that moment and they needed to make a roster move before announcing the trade. Later in the evening after sending the injured, day-to-day Peter Cehlarik back down to Providence, the Bruins made it official.

Of course, last night the Bruins were finishing up their Western swing in Las Vegas.

First Period:

Over halfway through the first period, Jake DeBrusk continued his goal streak. The Bruins may want to stay on this western road trip forever.

But the Bruins couldn’t maintain the lead going into the break, as former Bruins Reilly Smith recovered a rebound and found the back of the net.

Second Period:

Despite the fact they got the great Dave Goucher to announce the game, NBCSNPDQOMFGBBQ sent Pierre McGuire out there and he had to talk to a NASCAR driver during part of this period, which confused or annoyed everyone. Seriously, this is so forced.

At least he followed that up some time later by talking to Bruce Cassidy about the trade. Cassidy expressed that while Donato is a good young player, you have to give up some talent to get talent. This should be the only response to those who are having a tough time with the Coyle trade.

Pretty much nothing happened during this period except for Vegas being called for

and another penalty. Two power play opportunities missed.

Third Period:

Brad Marchand took matters into his own hands just after a minute into the period.

And then the Hockey Gods took it away.

Overtime:

The Bruins had difficulty getting out of their own zone for the first two minutes then got called for TOO MUCH MAN. They kill off the penalty in what feels like a hundred years which required a shootout to resolve this game.

Shootout:

Jake DeBrusk scored the first shootout goal, Vegas’ William Karlsson matched. In the sixth round, everyone’s obvious pick David Backes got the game winner.

Bruins extend their win streak and get 8/8 points on this West Coast Road Trip + Vegas.

Hey hockey pals!

Super busy this week.

I am OK with the trade and I don’t consider it an overpayment. I like Donato, he has a great personality and good potential, but you have to part with worthwhile pieces if you want something worthwhile back.

And it seems people will bitch about a trade not matter how good it is because they have some dumb narrative in their head and need to be dumb on Twitter thinking they’re cool when they really just sound like a dumb ass which means I end up bitching about people bitching.

That was an interesting game, though not as good as the Sssssssssssharks game.
The Vegan’s PK lived up to promises. But the Bruins still are not making shots on net.

Perhaps they are being kept from making shots when playing a fast team? Not quite sure of the pattern here, but when an opposing goaltender is not doing so well, they really should put the pressure on and they just don’t press the advantage.

I was trying to see what they were doing to disrupt the B’s rhythm… it felt like the Bruins were their own worst enemy.

Hiya.

I’m nine hours ahead of the West coast – if I’d known the game went to penalties I could’ve watched the shootout when I woke up this morning!

So, Charlie Coyle is the answer to our 3C issue? I liked Donato. Sorry he didn’t get a chance to develop a bit. Ah well, I trust management to know what they’re doing.
Coyle had one 20-goal season and a decent plus/minus (if that means anything) so that’s promising for a third-liner. Good luck to him.

That’s like when I got up for my early Saturday work shift and saw the Sox/Dodgers World Series game was still going on!
