Morning Free Association: Trade Deadline Done

So, the Bruins did not win the Mark Stone sweepstakes. The winner was the Vegas Golden Knights, who are reportedly offering him max term at $9.5 million. That price was a bit too steep for the Bruins.

The B’s also didn’t get Kevin Hayes, Wayne Simmonds, or the rumored (only by the Wind Tunnel) Tyler Toffoli.

I heard NO ONE ELSE say anything about Tyler Toffoli, and I watched a lot of TSN yesterday. But Savvy was on, so that was good.

Instead of high-priced, aging rentals, the B’s landed forward Marcus Johannson at 40% off.

I’m sure he’s fine but the move is underwhelming. But he’ll be wearing a number that no one has ever worn before in the Bruins organization.

Meh. I guess we have to hope that a rash of injuries or the flu hits Tampa at the right time.

In other news, David Pastrnak was seen skating yesterday at Warrior by himself. He has a brace on his left hand and will be out for at least two more weeks. At least the B’s have put it together without their top goal scorer.

Morning all. Happy to see they shored up the lines without giving up too much.

Good morning crew,

I like the trades. They are not flashy, but good. The Bruins are better than they were before.

I like Coyle. I’m happy with the price for Johansson, but am uncomfortable with the fit.
I thought they were finally really going to find a big piece for the top 6 — I was excited for a Mark Stone or near equivalent.

I’m OK with the fit but I would have liked a higher-caliber player. But, this is generally how we do things.

Good Morning, Amigos!!!!
Pretty happy with Sweenius… firm the team up at little cost, no sacrifice from the Boston roster… I don’t think it requires the bubonic plague to hit Tampa, the need is for the B’s to click at the right time.. (and Tampa slumping at the same time)…. Yo! It’s the NHL!!! One thing I learned reading “The Down Goes Brown History of the NHL” is that anything can and will happen on the icy stage.
Meanwhile, got our jollies on the 10 Mile and Housatonic Rivers over Tville as they’re closer. Huge day for me!!! Finally mastered the pirouette!!! You drive your boat onto a rock let the stern sink and start to move downstream, execute a stern sweep while letting your weight drop in, sinking the stern further, then snap your hip and voila – you are looking at the sky, bow of boat straight up in the air, spinning downstream…. It’s crazy. Also had my first solid surf on the intimidating wave at George’s Hole. not me in vid….
I’ll be on icetonight while the B’s play…. Replay at midnight!!!

About 2:30 into the vid, you get the view from eddy where I looked at the wave before entering…. Really have to cowboy up from there!

Playoffs are always a different beast than the regular season. Like all trades I’m usually just in a a “see how it all pans out” mode.

And I loved doing pirouettes when I did ballet! Turns and jumps were my favorite.

Smooth move that! Looks like it might be useful in Kayak polo…
