Thirteen shots on goal. That was all the New York Islanders could muster against the Bruins last night at the former Nassau Coliseum. Thirteen shots. The Bruins shot three times that amount, 39. Through two periods, Tuukka Rask only had to save eight shots on goal. It’s amazing that he didn’t fall asleep on the ice.
The Bruins had a fantastic night. They were strong on the puck, winning battles all over the place. And the goal scorers weren’t all on the first line.
Sean Kuraly started it off with a goal after a near miss. Heinen took a shot instead of passing to an open Kuraly. Moments later, Kuraly would capitalize on another opportunity. It was his first goal since he took off the fishbowl.

Four seconds into the second period, Matt Martin got the bright idea to spur his team into action by fighting the biggest guy on the ice: Zdeno Chara. This was not a good idea.

While the teams played at even strength after this fight, Noel Acciari decided that scoring a second goal would be a good idea. He was right, it was.

Then, Sean Kuraly struck again. He had himself a night.

We are officially on Sean Kuraly hat trick watch.

Not all the goals were from the top line but one was: it was Bergeron with a snipe.

Only one thing could cap this off, well one of two things. A true capper would have been another one of MY BOYS getting in on the goal action, Brandon Carlo, completing the trifecta.
However, I’ll take what Jake Debrusk did. After being sent to the penalty box to serve two minutes for Being a Bruins Player, Jake Debrusk showed a whole lotta hustle and a nose for the net.

Last week I wondered if Jake Debrusk was the key to this team. Since he’s been back, the team has won two games in a row. May it’s his hustle, his joie de vivre, or his winning smile, there’s something about Jake Debrusk that makes this team go lately.
The Bruins won 5-0 or Quota – 1. Not surprisingly, the three stars of the game are the guy who had two goals, the surprise from the fourth line, and the goalie who got his fourth shutout on the year.
The Bruins are still firmly in the second spot of the Atlantic with 97 points. Only nine more games to go.
Without looking, answer these questions about last night’s game:
Which forward led all Bruins forwards in time on ice?
Which Bruin player led all players in SOG?
Hint! They are the same person.
Is it Kuraly?? I didn’t look.
That was my guess as well.
And we are both:
Krejci?
I was kind of surprised to see he didn’t have a SOG last night.
Wow, really?!
Some players took the night off, because they could.
Yeah, makes sense. I was surprised to see Bergy and Marchy at all in the last ten minutes.
His linemate took all the shots. None of them felt like they were gonna get past a competent netminder, but it’s something.
The Answer
I was going to post it in spoiler, but I forget how to do that
I’ll help. The Answer:
Wow! Did not expect that!! I like his game…. if he can get hot……….!!!!!
Yeah this was a fun little trivia. I think Bagel Bruin needs to do a Guess The Thing About Last Night’s Game more often!
I certainly could do that!
I must admit, I did notice he played more than 1st line, which is to be expected in a blowout, but I didn’t notice how often he shot.
He shot a lot. I wouldn’t have guessed it but I noticed at the time.
Morning all. Did not expect to wake up and see Pasta trolling Marchand on Twitter.
I am glad Tuukka had an easy game last night. The owed him a perfect game after the game in Columbus
Hey All!!
Double last night… did catch most of the replay, though….. I want some of whatever Kuraly was drinking last night!! Good to see as dude works his ass off all the time.
Another double tonight… my knees are screaming, but I needs my scrilla.
Too early to think about first round matchups?? No, in fact, bio warfare should begin now… soften the Leasts up, a bit. Islanders fans will root, root, root for the Bruins! Suck it Tavares! You shoulda come to Boston.
Even when the Bruins were holding on to a wild card spot, I think we all knew the Bruins would face the Leafs in the first round.
Seems inevitable.
Death, taxes, Bruins/Leafs in the first round.
This is what I don’t like about the divisional system. Hardly any point in having the regular season!
Yup, 84 games to determine home ice advantage….\_0_/
Oh fuck! I lost an arm!!! \_0_/
